welp only i could have this kinda thing happen and i’m really worried it has been a fatal wound to my truck with 30k mi. i’ll cut to the important things you should know to possibly ease my mind and tell me everything is gonna be ok. i mean it’s bad. the 5.56 bullet passed thru the passenger floorboard in the crease where it begins to angle up. first it got a rubber hose coming from trans cooler and almost all coolant was leaked out. The projectile was then into the O2 sensor bank 1 sensor2 where it severed all 4 wires from sensor. i had repaired coolant leak and driving as i thought would be ok without sensor. i have a scangauge 2 in my ODB and getting 0037 which refers to previously mentioned sensor. well i was clearing code and it seemed ok. that is until the check engine light not only came on but flashed along with warning of high trans fluid temp followed by shut down. i have tried restarting a couple times but it doesn’t sound right turning over and i’m really beginning to worry i have made a mistake some could argue several. would love some thoughts on this. any and all info is welcome along with a little name calling because i possibly deserve it. lemme know folks

The backstory for those interested isn’t that exciting which is why i really didn’t mention it initially since it was gonna be a long post anyway but since you asked…. passenger was swapping uppers on AR from 22 to the 5.56. last time 5.56 was on it the clip wasn’t emptied so there was one still in chamber he didn’t know enough about what he was doing and when he was trying to put clip in it wouldn’t lock in. foolish as he is tried to fix that by pulling trigger with the safety off. i would have much rather it have hit my leg or something better yet his foot instead of what it’s done to my truck

What are the codes? Check engine light flashing is a misfire.

You need to fix the wiring for the O2 sensor.

For the trans, either you didn’t fix the hose, the trans fluid level is incorrect or there is additional damage you haven’t found.

I would let Toyota evaluate. Oil change personnel are lowest grade, but they do have master technicians to evaluate complex problems.

Not sure how the cost of the master technician is covered ... you provided no details of "how" and I am not asking. But insurance company may take a dim view if it happened from an accidental misfire inside the cab.

As I said, Toyota better-than-entry-level technician may be your best bet for evaluation.

Because you are new I will warn you ... Friday is for "ridiculous" threads and responses. I assume you are in earnest looking for an answer, but the nutcases in here may take advantage of "Friday". :notsure:
