There are two stories going on here in this thread...the accidental firing and fixing the truck.

More emphasis seems to be towards fixing the truck but...

Your story hits back at the safety required when handling firearms.

Crazy trajectory and path of least resistance are scary conditions.

It's amazingly fortunate the round did not cause more damage.

Purple Heart for the truck! Love it!!! lol

I don't think so - you hit your leg in the right place and you won't make it to the hospital.

Count what blessings are left in this unfortunate ( totally avoidable ) snafu.

Glad you didn't get hurt and your passenger didn't lose his foot or leg(s).

My question that I don't think has been asked here yet is: Did you find the round? If the answer is "no", then I think you should strongly consider getting the truck up on lift (soon) and thoroughly scrutinize the entire under carriage starting at the exit hole of the round in the floor. See if you can find other issues/damage or pieces of the puzzle that may identify/confirm it's complete path of travel and if there is any other damage that needs to be addressed. Use as bright of a light you can find and look for fresh/shiny new paths in the metal components where paint was removed, or additional holes, dents and cracked or shattered plastic parts. It should also pinpoint where all of the fluid leaks came from, and any additional ones to address.

You may get lucky and find a souvenir that will be a life-long reminder of lessons learned.

i don’t believe anything else was hit. but i have yet to be able to find the exit wound under the floor board. i have been alone while underneath so its not been easy although the location it chose to shut down on me really couldn’t have been better. i coasted right in behind a buddy of mines body shop / mechanic shop. i just have not bothered them with it just yet but they will all be there tomorrow and if i can pull everything together i wanna get it on lift since im 6’3” 260 lbs and i have step rails and cross members that rub my nose if i dont tilt my head lol

i think it is in the ground the way it looks to me. it was sorta angled towards the right front tire and pretty sure it cleared everything past the o2 sensor but i’m definitely gonna get it on a lift for better visibility

this site is confusing to me hell i don’t know if i’ve entered the correct filter info but either way when i click on the part number to the correct sensor it finds no results. but if it says 16-23 then i will just get one that i’ve found 16-22 i need to get the same manufacturer of the oem according to most i’ve seen say that any variation and it seems to be an issue

When I type the part number in, I get this site as having the part listed for 2023 also.

Whats a reassessing mechanism? You mean the bolt carrier group?

I also have to add.... Passing a hot weapon to a person whose trigger happy is totally your fault. You always clear the chamber when passing a gun and the person receiving the gun needs to clear the chamber. Gun 101 bud

His point was that a magazine is not a clip. Calling a magazine a clip tends to create an immediate distrust in the competency of the user/owner of a firearm.

Did we ever figure that out? He said he was adding coolant and watching it run out on the ground? From a trans cooler line..?

Whether or not he's right, either the trans is fucked from running dry or the engine is cooked from running without coolant. Which lines up with the sounds he was hearing after running it dry.

Agree it will need a new O2 sensor, but I wouldn't be holding my breath after that lol
