Any help will be much appreciated.

I'm trying to change my head unit in my 06 taco with jbl. I was under the impression all I needed was the scosche TA07SR harness. Seems like something is missing because the speaker wires from the deck don't connect to anything. Do I need to buy a separate harness? Also there is a black wire w/ white stripe from the scosche that says it's for grounding the jbl amp. Where does that conect to? I'm going crazy trying to figure it out.

    Please any help! Thanks guys.

Typically when you buy a head unit, it comes with a bunch of bare end wires that come out of the unit (usually attached by a clip). You need to connect each wire to the harness wires using crimps. The harness just allows you to connect the headunit to the car’s factory audio.

Not sure about the ground wire you’re talking about.

It been a while since I looked at my stereo wiring but I think I had to buy a specific adapter because I have the JBL system. In total I'm pretty sure I have 3 adapters/modules. One for the steering wheel controls, the stereo plug adapter and JBL adapter.

Ok so the wires coming out of the deck still need to connect to the factory wires. So I guess another adapter is involved in this. The scosche has 2 wires for the amp. Blue wire to turn on and the black/white to ground. Just don't know where the black one goes.

Ok thanks. This is what I was wondering. I'm needing the stereo plug adapter then.

I just looked up the wiring diagram for the module you have and it looks like everything you need should be there. You shouldn't need to connect the speaker wires coming out of the deck to anything. The adapter you are installing converts the harness going to the JBL system to RCA cables that you will plug into your new deck and you should be good to go.

Really? Because that's what I thought too. And for some reason no sound came out. But then again there was one wire that I couldn't figure out where it goes. It was labeled "amp ground". Was wondering if I just tie that in with the other ground wire. Not sure. Will work on it again tomorrow. Got frustrated and just put everything back to normal.
