H9 Headlight Upgrade Question

Looking to upgrade the H11 low beam bulbs in my 2017 Tacoma to the more powerful H9 bulbs.

From reading numerous threads on here, I’ve gathered that Philips is the preferred brand. However, I’m having difficulty sourcing them locally. Does anyone have any experience with NAPA’s bulbs? Would a NAPA H9 be just as good as a Philips? Thank you!

I use NAPA BP1265 HP-N. Used them driving in dark roads last night ... the only difference between high and low beans was how it spreads out ... high beams scatter more than low beams by design. All you must do is remove the green insert ... no cutting on the new bulbs necessary.

 

Thank you for the link. I was looking at them online, but was hoping I could source something locally available for when one eventually goes out it’s quick and easy to replace.

I was just wondering if the NAPA bulbs were on par with the Philips bulbs. If not, I’ll order them online.

 

I have not compared Phillips to NAPA. I just know that output between high and low are similar enough that the only improvement I would make is OEM LEDs.

I do not Crapazon so the items that are easier source (I think Crapazon makes "sole source" agreements of some kind so limited on-the-street availability) that way are not on my list usually.

 

I’m not familiar with the NAPA builds but they have good parts so I would give them a try.

Who knows Phillip’s may make them for NAPA.

 

Letting someone else design, build test ... you take the credit by selling? Heaven forbid!

Any h9 halogen you plug in is going to be an incredible improvement over h11. Avoid colored bulbs and you will be happy

 

You can examine the bulb at the counter and see who manufactured it. Napa repackages parts from other mfrs.

Go look in Walmart as well. My local Walmart stores have German-made Osram H9 bulbs.

 

Yes, that thread is a wealth of info & how I learned about all of this to begin with. However, I never saw any comparisons between the Philips and NAPA H9 offerings. Maybe @crashnburn80 can shed some light on the matter.

 

Good idea. I’ll check Wal-Mart. I despise going in that place, but it may be worthwhile to see what they have.
