He's the kind of person to be stuck on the side of the road in a Subaru because he thinks the AWD can't be stopped. Over confident or is it ignorant?

I Would not be afraid to run that trail if I didn't have to foot the repair job for any damages, or if I was wealthy enough to foot said repair job.

Without knowing the driver's financial incentive in the truck, I woudn't give the driver any pts for "balls" or "lack of fear". LIke I said, it's all about $$$.. nothing else.

Any obstacle that doesn't end in needing to deploy recovery methods is a good one in my book. Thought he was a goner a few times there, but they (Derek and the truck) did us proud.

I drive a prerunner and here is my thought:

2wd is definitely not as capable as a 4wd. With that being said, A good driver with 2wd is just as good as a bad driver with 4wd. And to be honest, I think I have more fun when off roading because I KNOW it's all or nothing in certain situations. It's either, get through it or i'm getting stuck.

With 4wd you KNOW that if you start getting stuck, you put the truck into 4x4 & you are out of the situation. What's the fun in that? There isn't as much of a risk of getting stuck in 4x4 as there is in 2wd.

I was also there at the trail when the video was taken. The mud was really slippery. Props to derek for going first. I have a prerunner sport and didn't have ANY problem at all. Of course after seeing Derek's approach, we all decided to straddle the rut instead. All you need is a good driver, some speed & a Tacoma!

Trail riding in 2WD is a test of driver skills. 4WD is good to have but it will not always get you out.

i didnt read all the post inbetween. to the untrained eye, i bet alot of folks would suspect that to be a 4x4.

nice driving! he didnt even need to be pulled out! well done, to the driver. OP, not so well done. no fail!

Haha fail for attempting that in a pre. Some say balls, I say stupidity. not bad of an outcome though.

It's also shitty to the environment because a 2WD truck will tear up the ground much more so than a 4x4 under the same condition.

I assume these thoughts were not considered...

Derek, way to represent the Pre. Mine only sees parking lots and an occasional dirt road.

meh the earth tears up the ground on its own, or measily little trucks can dig rutts all day long and they dont compare to the damage done by mother nature itself.

I wouldn't call it damage, I like the term "asset relocation".

What is considerate "having balls" in this scenario?

Is having no regard for vehicle damages considered having "balls"? Not to me it doesn't

If he attempted that rut in the way that he did on the edge of a cliff with high potential of a death fall, then I would label that as "balls"

Give me your truck and I'll rip that up easily.. do I get pts for having "balls"?

    ha ooops lol

either way dont knock its capabilities your truck with some good tires, well if it was an off road not a sport, would be able to go through a decent amount of crap.
