I'm planning on drilling, but I may look into figuring out a bolt on kit.

While I like making money, I don't like running a business, I did it for along time. So anything I figure out is going to be free info, you click the links and buy your own parts. Markups are dumb.

Like if your looking for factory looking switches, check aliexpress or Alibaba, the same switches being sold by air on board are from China and cost 2-3 bucks each.

X2 I think I would trust the old school hood prop rod more than I would some pneumatic struts. Toyota cylinder heads are not me and the chance of a need in 250k miles or so is minuscule, based on my previous Toyota trucks. Just for the heck of it, I opened the hood, put the prop rod in its proper notch, jiggled it, hit hard with my palm while holding the hood up with the other hand....no way that rod will pop out! Besides, I am almost broke spending $$ on accessories you good folks conned me into!

No, I do. I check it every month or so... is the Tacoma oil system so unpredictable that it needs to be checked more often than every other fill up? I only drive this vehicle around 7500 miles p/yr.

Idk man...my dad always taught me to check the oil at least once a week, more with higher mileage. Just been doing it for the 15 or so years. I guess I assumed with all the nit picky post I see on this site that most did the same.

Not saying you're doing anything wrong, just asking a question.

I'm short and with a lifted truck and front bumper with hoops it makes it hard to get the hood open. Struts would make it so much easier.

Hood struts in racing  Maybe some series and some cars. But they were in other industries long before the auto industry then they started putting them on cars. It was after that that some racing series put them on the cars like the LeMans car doors and such. Mostly if there is a hood or something that opens they have a locking hinge like the old Corvettes and stuff. Weight is a concern so function rules over form.

I had to get jump started in my jeep back in high school

    In the rain

    At night

Using my phone as a flashlight

I now keep a light in the truck (and under-hood lights are on the list of crap I want but don’t need) and a jump pack so I don’t need another vehicle, but it’s still very nice to fiddle with as few things as possible when it’s pouring on you.

    Open hood
    Connect jump pack
    Crank
    Remove jump pack
    Slam hood closed
    Jump back in truck.

It does not look as though these were designed for the hood. These maybe designed for lifting Tonneau Covers.
