hand cleaner?

To make a long story short, I have Great Stuff spray insulation mixed with PVC glue all over my hands. And to top it off, it was mixed with a little dirt and grime.

Soap, Dawn, Orange Cleaner, WD-40, Gas, Paint Thinner all failed to take this stuff off.

Only thing that is working is sandpaper. Any Ideas?

 

Paint thinner, or rubbing alcohol. Paint thinner most likely. Kerosene works well also, just don't be stupid with a cigarette while you clean your hands.

Remember, like dissolves like. (referencing polarity and density)

Sandpaper is working but when it gets down to the skin, well would you want to sandpaper your skin???

Damn, paint thinner didn't work...? Usually, when I'm working with PVC glue, I wear gloves, but I just end up sanding my hands with 500 grit when it does get on my skin.

You can just wait for it to fall off; It does so after a few days once your skin cells die and get replaced with new ones. haha

Olive oil. Let it soak in real good, haven't tried it but I heard from some insulator on a one of my jobs saying that works.

 

I'll tell you something crazy. I was sealing the cracks in the crawl space of my house last week with this stuff, and some of it dripped down on my hair. I didnt realize it till i got inside. I thought i was going to have to shave my head to get it out. Nothing worked. Until i tried my wife's shampoo. Some crazy shit she uses to make her hair shine. I put that stuff on my hair with that insulation on it and the insulation just started falling out.

I tried that on my hands and no luck. lol

Acetone should work, although not the safest solvent for your hands, but it does work. I have been in your shoes ( I hate the been there done that statement).
if all else fails, start clipping off fingers.

 

Just cover your entire hand with Great Stuff and tell everyone you are wearing gloves.

 

Looks like if it has cured (moisture speeds up curing) than you have to remove it mechanically. You have to sand it as fine as you can and wait until your skin sheds.
