    Which ones are you talking about?

    I had the KC Daylighter style for my old Xtracab on my "roll bar". I never got them wired up (chased a bad ground issue for awhile until I sold the truck) but the quality was awful. The connections were all plastic and cracked before I even got them on the truck. The chrome finish rusted out the second water hit them.

    If you're talking about a different set of lights, I can't comment, but my advice would be to run away.

    They're the US general off road lights. They are in a chrom case but that'll be painted before long to avoid rust. The lights work good with 55 watt hogan bulb for now but they'll be HID before long. I just got a set of cheap lights to turn HID. When they get messed up I'll spend actually money on good ones when I have money. Haha

    Have you looked at aircraft landing lights? Napa and other parts places usually sell them, the ones I used were 4in and 6in at 100w.. You need to buy the black rubber housing to fit the lamps but they were usually way less than Hella/PIAA kits.. plus when they burn out its a $20 bulb at the parts shop..

    Well it was a few years ago, and $CAD, but the 4.5in ones were around $60 and the 6in were under $100..

    Here is a pic from back then;

    You didn't have issues with the plastic nuts/screw that hold the wires into the housings snap into many pieces?

    Mine were broken nearly out of the package. I ended up hitting everything with silicon in a sad attempt to solve the problem. It didn't work.

    No, all of mine are in tact as of right now. I just plasti dipped the whole casing to avoid rust and water intrusion. I will hopefully order my HID kits tonight and replace the bulbs and wires

    aside from impact sockets, harbor freight stuff is prone to fail the second you need it. I do admit to having a decent floor jack from them, and some end wrenches that are still alive, but I've had to throw away numerous 12v air compressors, ratchets, standard-wall sockets, etc.

    all of these failures occurred in dire situations and often resulted in bloody knuckles

    I didn't know they sold poor quality. I thought they had decent things there, that's why I picked up the lights. Plus they were a cheap light that I could turn into HID easy. I just painted my casing today to seal and prevent rust. I figure they should last a while if I can get the beam to point where I freaking need them too
