I need a portable usb hard drive. I have one laptop with xp and the other one runs 7. Can I use the same one on each pc? Or do I need a separate one for each operating system?

You can use the same drive for XP and 7 with no problems at all.

Yep, will run fine on any. I use mine between a few different computers with XP, Vista, and 7. I have a small portable Western Digital. Used primarily to back my date up on.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
as long as both are running USB/firewire/whatever you get. might wanna check though and make sure the drivers are available for 7. i know pista had that issue when it first came out, but 7 has that xp compatability or whatever, so it may not be an issue
