Little confused here. Harrop hasn't confirmed that their E-Locker (HAR-TV6) works for my 4x4 Sport 8" 3rd Gen. Anyone know for certain? They are working on a supercharger kit, and their answers to me have been vague.

Call Cruiser Brothers (the primary importer) or East Coast Gear Supply (likely the highest volume seller) both will be able to answer your questions about American spec vehicles much better

I'm going to have to get one of these for the front. I struggled today going up a ledge and a Jeep with front and rear lockers just walked up it like it was flat ground... Good to know there's an electronic option for the front!

Update on my Harrop on my 3rd gen. I Noticed The front Clam leaking oil yesterday. Did some clean up and re checking today and looks like it’s leaking from the rubber wire grommet. Looks like it wasn’t properly sealed up enough and came loose and pushed back down. Cleaned it up and siliconed it as best I could from the outside.

Really Hoping this fixes it as I’m not looking forward to pulling it and sending it back to the shop if it doesn’t...

So it may be a good idea to seal the outside with RTV to make sure the grommet doesn’t slip back in?

My ECGS diffs should be to me early next week so I’m trying to get everything ready before the shop installs them.

i think so. I cleaned mine very well with purple power degreaser then 50/50 ipa alcohol/water Solution and let dry. Applied permatex and so far I’ve done one test drive on it it hasn’t leaked. I went ahead and did the rear too just for safe measure. Wouldn’t hurt if you did it before they went in.

when I emailed Chase at ECGS he Said this is the first one he’s seen leak. He made it seem like it’s kinda a crappy design. I’d have to agree somewhat, but It seems like more rtv upon initial install of the plug inside AND out of the grommet would be the ultimate proper solution.

Thanks for the heads up, I’m going to put some rtv or similar on the grommets to try and minimize the risk of this happening to me. What type of Permatex did you use?

    I thinking this should work.

Use one that is ok around oil, that doesn't seem to be a good choice. Ultra grey is what is recommended for the diff.

    I used this 6F6576FE-DA11-4682-BE2A-4053D57A7489.jpg
But I do have some ultra grey. After I applied the black I thought about it more and looked it up and the grey is indeed the better choice in my opinion. The black however seems to be holding up fine so far. If it leaks again I’m gonna go to town on it with some grey.

Such a great upgrade. Where did you source them being in the great white north?

Looking at the box and packing material I'm gonna say ECGS.

ECGS....because they are familiar with Harrop lockers and the modifications required to install them. They also have great customer service.

    YUP!!

So I just moved my upgraded 3rd member and front diff between trucks and I can tell you the following threads were quite helpful
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/re-gear-writeup.179500/
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...d-installation-of-e-locker-3rd-member.193828/

Things I learned while doing an remove and install on two trucks in a week:
-You can do it alone but it sucks.
-If you have about 6 inches between your chest and the axle in the rear and the crossmember in the front it's easier to muscle it in place.
    -Stay hydrated.
-Get a big kid impact for some of those pesky bolts.
-A funnel that will take a quart of gear oil and 6 feet of clear tube that securely attaches make refilling the diff a breeze.

4.56 gears and lockers are in. Just waiting for a switch panel so I can run the wires and get them hooked up. Will test the lockers with the wiring in the next few days.

So, I am planning on installing my rear 3rd member tomorrow with new 4.56 gears and harrop from ECGS and pulling the front shaft seeing as I don’t have time to do both, I’ll get to the front in a couple weeks... when I pull the axles out a little bit to get then 3rd out, will I have to install new seals or will I be alright just sliding them out a little and popping them back in..? Thanks in advance..!

Don't pull your front shaft, just don't engage 4wd while the gears don't match.

I had no issues with just sliding them out and back in, no leaks on either the 15 with 45k or the 11 with 125k after the swap.
