Thanks for the info. I called my salesman first- he basically ran me through what was going to happen. Talked to my service assistant today, and he said the frame is ordered and he'll get back to me when they recieve it. I mentioned replacing the shocks and he's going to get back to me with a price. I checked online and looks like I could save just under $100 by buying them online, but the warranty from Toyota is easily worth that. I'll ask about exhaust when they start the work, that'd probably pay for itself in the long run, too.
The truck only has 75000 miles on it, so i think replacing the clutch and timing belt would be a bit early.

Mine has 82k. It has been forever(1.5 months) since I have seen my boo. Get some shocks and buy a clutch and give it to them if u have a manual. It will be warranted for life if they do the work. It will save you tons in the long run. I just called them and they said itwould be about another week. Good luck to everyone who inquires about their frames... DO IT IT IS FREE TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    RAISE HELLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The frame still hasn't come in, and it was a month this past Friday. I ordered a set of Bilstein 5100's from Down South Motorsports- by far the best price, and got a discount for being a TW member.
My service assistant was trying to tell me that I had to pay labor costs to replace the shocks, and for the alignment. I sent an e-mail to Toyota and they called me back the next day, contacted the dealer for me, and took care of all that nonsense. I'm just responsible for the parts needed for the state inspection.
I'm really looking forward to having my truck back, but the end isn't in sight.

I wonder how much the tsunami and reactor problems affect the frame recall. Hope you'll get your truck back on the road soon.

The frames are produced in the good old USA, 'course that's where the old frames were also produced.
Stamped out by Dana Corp. if I remember correctly.

Took my 2000 4x4 to the dealer 2 weeks ago for frame inspection. It failed and toyota a determined that it cost more to fix it than to buy it back from me. They gave me 150% of Kelly Blue Book excellent condition (they'll give you excellent condition regardless). They ALS gave me a rental until I got my check. 14k

Mine was pretty bad. '98. Toyota bought it back for about 2x what I paid for it 3 years earlier.

If given the option, I would've taken the money and ran. Whenever they do get the frame in, it'll easily take another week until I get it. I love my truck, but my impatience is growing and 15k would put out that fire quickly... As a side note, I found a scratch on my rental yesterday. If it was mine I'd be pissed, but it wouldn't cost me anything. I hope enterprise sees it my way!

    You'll like the frame replacement.
Think about it.... you're getting a new frame, brake lines, rear springs, LCA's, e-brake cable, hardware, A/C recharge, new anti-freeze, brake fluid, labor and all for free!

If you need new shocks (Toyota or after-market) or exhaust, they will install for free because they are going through the R&R procedure anyway. Only thing you have to do is buy the part.
I had them replace my clutch as it was cheaper and a time-saver with it out of the truck.

I was given a free loaner and the work was done in 4 days.

Basically a new truck because my drive-train (99K) was just fine.
My bill to Toyota was about $12,000.
Try paying for that on your own....... sweet deal.

The salesman doesn't even try to sell me a truck anymore because he knows I have a "new truck" already.

Truck is paid for and there are many less Tacomas on the road so it makes yours worth more.
My insurance and plates are cheaper because of the year. Advantage there!

Got a call today... My frame is IN!!! Felt like I was going to go through the summer without it. This is the first call I've gotten, and I don't know how far along they are in the rebuild. Hopefully I can go visit today or tomorrow and see some progress.

I dropped by every day and took pictues. No problem for the dealership. I gave a camera for the mechanic and he took pictures. It was his 1st replacement and he did a perfect job. (4 days.)

Every now and then, I'll see a semi with a load of frames on the truck. Sure been keeping the mechanics busy.

Remember if you want new shocks or exhaust, now is a good time to replace.
Free labor and life-time replacement/labor if ever needed again, provided you use Toyota parts.
It's easier for the mechanic as he doesn't have to save the old shocks and wrestle with rusty bolts. He can do the job quicker with new parts and he makes better time (and money.)

Is the undercoating free at all dealerships? I'm in SC but I'm about to move somewhere with lots of snow and salt...:spy:

Is the undercoating soft like tacky? Or is it a hard grainy undercoating? Thanks.

It's free. If the frame passes, they are suppose to apply the "undercoating" but I think some dealerships try to weasel out of it.
Gives a bad view of weasels.

Tool box, Bedliner, Not too much yet as I bought it 4/28.
They undercoated my frame and it was soft and tacky like tar or something. 3 weeks later and it is still sort of tacky, if you touch the frame you will get black stuff on your hands that is hell to get off.

Do you regret getting it done? I could probably get a harder coating here in town but it will be pricy I'm sure.

Do you have any pictures? Thanks.

I don't have any pictures, but my frame was sprayed years before I bought the truck and it stays tacky. It's a useless application if the frame is rusting from the inside. It only puts off the inevitable of getting the frame replaced.

I picked up my truck on Monday. Wish I could say I was pleased as everyone else about the situation. I have a new frame, my e-brake is awesome, clutch sticks less, but there are some issues.

The mechanics left greasy fingerprints all over my Wet Okole seat covers, which thankfully came off but I don't feel like I should've had to clean them. The rear bracket on my exhaust wasn't attached to anything. The one directly behind the muffler was attached, and the rest of the tailpipe all the way back was left to fend for itself. My tailgate rubs on the plastic part of the rear bumper when it's opened, and the front bumper is cockeyed. 3/4" gap under the headlight on the drivers side and 1/2" on pass. side, which doesn't sound like much but is noticeable. Lastly, when I went to vaccume the truck the carpet under the pass side mat was wet and musty underneath. I don't know what caused this- need some dry weather with open windows to see if it happens again.

To top it all off, my rental was scratched on the front bumper at some point during the process and Enterprise took me for my deductible of $500. Not Toyota's fault, but it certainly isn't mine either and just adds to my frustration.

I sent the dealer an e-mail yesterday, so I could get all my thoughts down without getting fired up with someone on the phone. We'll see where this goes...
