I want one myself, just wondering if anyone has actually tried buying one at the dealer or else where. Just wondering if the parts department at the dealers would sell them, since there consider a "Special Edition" part.

Yeah I called a dealership and talked with a person the other day. Basically you need to have a VIN number off a Pro, proof of ownership saying that VIN number is actually registered to you, and then they are for damage replacement only so photographs of the damage have to be supplied as well. Just having a pro VIN number is not enough.

That's ridiculous. Do they also take a blood and stool sample too? It's not "special edition" part, it's off a truck that hasn't been redesigned in 10 years. You'd think they would want to sell parts.

I like the pro grill a lot but that is the craziest thing I have ever heard that unless you own one you can't buy one!! And only if it is for damage replacement! The probally make you return the old one as a core..

They want to sell Pro trucks, not make every non Pro truck look like one. What's ridiculous is the attitude of why anybody should feel so entitled that someone who builds a complete product and sells it should have to see offer pieces of that product to anybody who wants it.

If you want the Pro grill, buy the Pro. If not, farm it out to a custom builder. Pathetic.

Remind me again how much you spent on the concept of the TRD Pro, the design of it's exclusive features and their proceeding production? Who do you think you are again? A paying customer you are not, figure it out.

That is ridiculous but then again a buddy of mine owns a raptor damaged his front grill and fender and they basically asked the same and the damaged parts back.

    Pretty crazy

Agreed. I do like the grill but it is for a special truck package. I would do the same thing if I was Toyota. When they do become available it will be cool.

If they become available, for sure. If I were king it'd be untouchable for 5 years after the truck hits dealer lots. Hopefully Toyota is like minded.

GM is doing the same thing with the new Camaro Z28. They don't want people putting Z28 parts on their "ordinary" Camaros. My guess is that these parts will be available at a later date.

They did the same thing for our Ivan Stewart Edition Tundra we own. Have to provide the VIN to get parts for it. It's not like it's anything new.

Answer your own question, unless you think decals and special grills are the same, then you can reread my last post for the same answer.

Is the TRD decal not part of a special package?

I don't recall trucks that weren't initially purchased with the TRD package having them so I would say they are one in the same.

They already sell the exhaust, suspension, trd shift knob, tailgate trd emblem, wheels...

my guess, you'll be able to get the grill without vin in a few months..

TRD is a trim level, the TRD OR and TRD Sport all have the same grill as the SR5, they just paint it with the TRD Sport.

The TRD PRO doesn't share it's grill with any other model, it is exclusive to the TRD PRO, regardless of the fact that it is essentially that same exact grill. Your comparison is poor.

    This.

The whole argument about whether you can or can't buy one is stupid.

Oh trim level that's right. Call it whatever you want.
