Has anyone been able to swap the "next song" button with "higher volume"?

It was a story not a post. Only viewable for 24 hours. Gone now.

I'm used to mine as it is, and used to the Tundra. I'm leaving mine alone.

Agree it's not that huge of a deal and I've gotten used to it with time. Just seems odd Toyota designed that way in the first place.

I’m genuinely amazed that folks have an issue with the volume/next song/station button lay out. I just can’t wrap my dumb little brain around it.

    Rant over.:burp:

It's just not intuitive, but ultimately you just hit the wrong button once then adapt. So it isn't the biggest inconvenience in the world.

The issue is really just that if you drive more than one car you're guaranteed to hit the wrong button in one or the other. It's super frustrating that they decided to do something different than any other car you're likely to drive.

Hated it the first month I owned this truck. Got used to it now, then I drive my other car and it becomes an issue again lol

while i agree this issue is annoying sometimes, as are other knobs on the dash, it is a tribute to tacoma reliability that this sort of
thing is what people bitch about. try other forums that i once participated in, where they worry about intake manifold vacuum and failing electrical systems etc.
tacomas not without their problems, as recalls and tsbs attest, but given a choice, i'll take annoying knobs.

    I don’t know.:)

Ones life must be so perfect in every way if a simple layout of the steering wheel is enough to start a thread about.

There are much, much bigger things to worry about than some stupid buttons
on a steering wheel. A lot of folks seem to be very spoiled these days. Ok I’ll stop haha.

    Rant #2 over.

My issue is that the up an down arrows to change between radio presets and songs (if connected to a phone through bluetooth or Carplay) is seemingly opposite. As I think about it, if I have a list written down of my FM presets, pushing the arrow up button goes towards the top of the list which makes sense to me. But if trying to move to the next track on a playlist or album while connected to my phone, I would think the up arrow would move back (or towards the top of the album list / list of songs) but instead it moves to the next track. I keep trying to figure out what the thinking was on this so I can re-train my brain but it just hasn't clicked. Am I missing some logic here?

I'm a Millionaire! One Million Posts!!
Not at all. Most normal people crank UP the volume, or turn it DOWN.
And they switch OVER to another radio station or song or audio input, or they switch BACK.
Not at Tacoma Design Headquarters. Some intern screwed this up and it wasn't discovered until too late in the design phase. They decided to "run with it" thinking no one would notice or care...
    WRONG!! o_O:annoyed:

I’ve had the truck for almost a year now, still not an intuitive motion to use those controls. While I’m pretty used to it by now, I’d switch to the correct setup in a heartbeat.

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
People learn how to drive a standard, use a computer, go to school for higher education, wrestle alligators, troubleshoot vehicle issues...

Having to use your thumbs for the volume? That's just a step too far for some...

I put in an aftermarket head unit with a iDatalink Maestro because I wanted CarPlay. I now sleep great knowing that I can change to the next track with the push of the right button.

I was at a Jeep dealer for a very long time and Wrangler owners were a pain in the ass too.....and I've never owned a Wrangler....or ever will. Ever.
