    I am very close to pulling the trigger on the OTT 7.0 for my 2023 TRD sport 6MT. What’s giving me the very slightest hesitation is the 5yr/60k power train warranty. (I’m at 9k miles so got plenty left .) In my mind the scenarios play out such as any engine issue that can be traced back to the tune and Toyota voids any warranty work. I know this has been discussed ad nauseum and that the tune is difficult to detect.. but before I pull the trigger I would like to know if anyone has had any issues at all with dealers and warranty work after tuning?

    Thx!

    The tune isn’t going to break your truck.
    The guys that developed that tune know what that are doing. They will not release a tune that even borders on “unsafe”. All their tunes are rigorously tested. Again, the tune “will not” harm your truck. And any thing that could (and it likely won’t) break, wound NOT be the fault of the tune.

    @Boltripper
    @JustDSM

    I bet the two guys above would know if there ever has been an issue.

    But like I said, I’ve never heard of it.

    Personally I wouldn't tune until after the warranty is out but that's just me, I don't like giving them any excuse to deny a warranty claim.

    If you are doing your own flashing you can put the stock tune in the truck should you ever need to take it in for a problem.
    I will say many vehicles nowdays keep logs in the PCM of any change in tuning but I'm not sure if Toyota is doing this yet.

    They do but I can trigger the check sum by disconnecting my battery and/or clearing a code. Atleast on my 2021. Small potato's though and thats not a cause to void the warranty on it

    I mean all factory calibrations have a checksum code so anyone with a scan tool and access to the code lists (which are typically publicly available) can see if it currently has a modifed calibration in it if they wanted to.
    Some manufacturers go a step or 2 further where they keep a permanent log of anytime the calibration was modified and/or setting a permanent DTC for non OE calibration.

    Not trying to scare anyone I'm just saying they have ways of detecting if something has been modified should they want to.

    For sure and I should clarify that i'm not trying to say that you'll be squeaky clean and completely under the radar. On gm's your don't even need to see the calibration code, check sum or any of that to know if something has a modified software. However unless it's obvious or Toyota themselves do the digging, it'll very highly likely slide under the radar

    In the engine failure thread, someone blew a motor from oil hydrolocking on an incline. Apparently warranty didn’t cover it due to a tune being present even though it wasn’t the cause. Im not sure if there are other confounding things, but I don’t really feel it’s worth the possible risk.

    I am thinking of doing the same thing, and am doing as much research as possible as I want my '23 to be a 300,000 mile, 20 year truck. HATE the needless shifting. Arbitrarily shifts up while trying to accelerate and has to shift back down immediately, and downshifts on the freeway with a .5 degree incline. Cant make up its mind, and I feel like all the excessive, needless shifts that it makes instead of just using the torque it actually has is overusing the trans and causing unnecessary revving. For me, OTT would be for the shifting issue as I drive like a grandpa. I have found nothing across all my reading and video watching where anyone says they've had a problem due to the tune, or a warranty issue except for the instance that kona61 mentioned above. I have only heard good to great things about the OTT tune, and that most people only wish they had done it sooner.

    Whats the best outcome from an OTT tune? HP, Torque, Throttle Response? Whats the main reason people want their trucks tuned?
