Had my truck serviced at the dealership and they told me my Power Steering line's needs to be replaced because they are Leaking. Has anyone had to replace them? I have 45,000 miles on the truck, seems odd that this would be leaking already. Dealer wanted +$600 to have this done, looked at some videos on replacing the lines on other cars and it doesn't look that difficult.
Anyone have any tips before i jump in to this?

    Thanks

First step: make sure you have identified the leak, before you start replacing parts. Your suspicions are valid; I'd give it a good long look, and maybe find another shop.

I'm fairly picky, and like to keep things in good working order. That said, my 2006 GMC Yukon had a leaky PS hose, it leaked just enough to make the hose have a soaked spot, it never even leaked enough for me to add fluid. I owned/drove it about 5-6 years. Don't get me wrong, a leak is a leak, and it was on my list of things to do, but I just never made it a priority.

That seems odd for that mileage and age, I'd verify your leak before shelling out the dough.

I was gonna say the same thing, power steering should be covered under the 5yr/60k powertrain warranty.

    Usually doesn’t cover hoses.

Gotcha, first time seeing this issue with our trucks, never had this issue on my 3rd, 2nd or 1st gen high mileage trucks.

I think you are correct, belts n hoses are usually considered wear items, as far as I've seen anyway.

Toyota corporate culture has a couple of buzzwords for this: "go-look-see", "gemba". Check the hoses yourself and see if they are leaking. If you can't find the leak, ask the dealer to show you. If the leak exists obviously replace the line.

I can see the coupling at the rack being a bitch to loosen if it's rusted, due to lack of swing space for a wrench.

Are they possibly mistaking a front cover leak for a power steering leak?

This is what I think. The cover leaks right at the pump tricking many techs.

    Good call!
I haven't looked under the hood, but I was skeptical 3 year old PS hoses with 45k miles were already leaking.

I'd check with an inspection mirror. I don't think anybody likes to pay for anything they don't have to.

I've got the same leak. Noticed it the other day when I pulled my skid plate off. I can't tell if its a hose or a seal.
