Has anyone modified the bed light to control aux ditch lights?

OP, i’ve done this for my rock/puddle lamps. I ran the new relay under the hood, using the battery posts for power and ground, with a signal wire tucked into the cargo lamp’s relay pins in the dash. Not ideal in-cab wiring, but has held up and works as designed

 

Looks nice, thanks! I was pretty worried about stressing it out by doing it, some of those other circuits like the DRL’s are pretty finicky.

 

Note i have it tied into the load side of the cargo lamps relay, not the smaller control circuit

 

Where is the cargo lamp relay located?

 

Under the dash, drivers side

 

(Pic has no Cargo or Seat Heater relay)
You could place a Denso Relay in the bottom relay slot for your added lamps. (Using un-insulated crimp connectors) Then place a jumper from the Cargo Lamp pin 2 to the added relay pin 2 also and have the lights managed by the Cargo Lamp Switch. Power for added relay can be had from fuse panel.
