Go to the junkyard. Cut the male part off of a seat belt. Take it home and plug it in. Problem solved.

 

Nice. Gonna wait until I get bigger tires and do this and install the speedo adjuster at the same time.

The dealer can do this, but almost all will not due to liability.

It says its a customizable option in the owners manual, force them to do it, squeaky wheel gets the grease.

 

Unplug it from under the seat and connect the two wires; done and totally reversible.

Just had my first dealer service. The service writer hadn't heard of it, but the technician pulled up the code instruction on his computer. Everything works normally now, but the seatbelt chime goes silent after the first five seconds.

Also, I requested a seatbelt extender for another reason: Tired of having to twist and contort my body around to reach the seatbelt receiver in its present down-low location. More guys would wear the belts if they were easier to reach.

 

Have a locksmith cut you a copy of your key on a flat metal blank and keep it in your wallet. It won't start the truck if you have an immobilizer, but it'll let you back in. I've done that with all my vehicles and it's saved me a few times.

 

This. Easily the best "mod" you can do for your truck that doesn't actually involve the actual truck.

 

I traced the male piece onto the plastic lid of a five gallon bucket and cut a couple out. I made two of them for my truck and one for the Ram 3500. They work like a charm. I frequently use one when my dog sits in the front seat or I have anything weighty in the front seat (groceries, backpack, etc...) which sets off the alarm. I store them in the flip down storage to the lower left of the steering wheel.

 

And it's cheap. Under $5.
