Has anyone used 3M Underseal Rubberized Undercoating?

Sup everyone?

I'm thinking about using 3M Underseal Rubberized Undercoating to paint the wheel wells on my 2002 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner. They don't look to hot right now.

Has anyone ever used this product? Did it work well? My concern is the winter here in Minnesota. I want this to hold up and not flake off. We have harsh winters with sub-zero temps and a lot of road salt.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I don't think you can use it on anything that is plastic cause it is petroleum based but it is one of the first things I do with every new truck I get, crawl under and give 2 coats to any metal parts.

Used it on my 92 4 runner and it never cracked or peeled for the 15 years that I owned the truck.

 

Ahh, I see. So any part of the frame (or metal) that is showing. Makes sense. Any suggestions for the plastic parts of the wheel well? Mine look gray and pretty bad.

good thread! I am wondering what type of paint would hold up best on my wheels. mmjcar you mind posting pics of your wheels in their current state?

 

YES that stuff is amazing .... i used in the engine compartment on my cj and its held up really well and it does hold fairly well to plastics my wheel wells have some plastics u just have to use a scruff pad and reaply it everyonce in a while but it wild stick on hold up fairly well

 

yeah i used it on my wheel wells. i even went one step farther and used spray lacquer to make it shine and make it easyer to clean. works well so far, allways looks clean

 

it'll come off if you put it on your wheel wells.



I used 4 or 5 cans trying to sound deaden my old civic. it didn't work out too well. I wasn't too impressed with the stuff. I still have a can up in my garage.
