I noticed on my 2007 Tacoma that the sticker under the hood shows the valve clearance specs, and on my moms 2010 Tacoma it says no adjustments needed. I was just curious if they had changed something. I searched and didn't find anything, Both have the 4.0 V6.

None of the service information I've seen has said that--although I wasn't specifically looking for it. Can you cite a source that says current single-VVTi 4.0 engines have hydraulic lash adjusters/lifters?

Ive also notice the older 4.0 on the fuel door says use premium and in 09 they say you can run regular...if that has something to do with it.

Gotcha. Kinda figured it was something like that. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

You are dead on the money. None of the 4.0 Tacoma motors need valve adjustments at any time. . As matter of fact I do not know of any late model Toyota that does not have a hydrolic valve train.

The 1GR is a shim under bucket. I dont know of many Toyota engines that HAVE hydro lifters. Can you cite examples?

There is no service but they are shimmed lifters or more accurately cam followers and the followers them self are selective. I tried to find the mileage chart I think it was 80K any way you are supposed to listen to them and if they are noise they need adjustment. I believe all the V6 truck engines have shimmed valve clearance.
