Bought Pioneer 501ex from Crutchfield. Paid the extra money for the steering wheel controls and them to pre wire it up etc.

No back up camera and no steering wheel controls work. Wasted 2 hours this morning trying to quadruple check everything with zero luck. Pissed!

Is the steering wheel control jack plugged into the correct spot? The spot will be labeled W/R on the back of the radio I believe.

    We need some more details.
What harness did you buy? What steering wheel control module?

Connect a new car stereo and retain the steering wheel audio controls and backup camera in 2012-up Toyota vehicles

I had Crutchfield do the ready harness wire service so it should have been plug and play.

Here are the first steps I would look at

-make sure the backup cam RCA is plugged into the correct camera/video input.
-make sure the steering wheel control jack is plugged into the W/R spot

    Then

-make sure demo mode is off
-Make sure the camera input is on
-make sure the camera polarity is on battery

And see if that gets you any farther.

is it a brown plug in for camera in top right?

I am pretty sure I had the wr plugged in correctly though. Here is a pic of the back of the head unit.

Yeah the brown rca is for backup cam.

Double check the dip switches on the crux module just in case they overlooked them

Based on the manual, they should be
Down down up up down up down up

ill check the dip switched this could be the issue there. But i have nothing to plug into the back up camera port ( i am assuming this is the problem).....I wonder if it is missing a piece or they forgot to have this wired up?

First off thanks for the help. Secondly I see a black brown and white wire go to a connector but there is no where that plugs into back of head unit

The yellow is your backup cam
    RVC means reverse camera

The red and white are connected to the aux jack down below your A/C controls

I’m not sure about the connector with the black brown white. Just make sure that connector is plugged into the car if your car has a matching plug. The manual says some do and some dont

The plug with the brown/ white black cables should have something to go into somewhere. I recognize that from an 8 month battle of trying to get MY reverse cam working on my aftermarket head unit. Those wires lead to the camera, at least they do in my truck.

I assume so? Where do those red white rca plugs go to? If it is for an AUX in (like a 3.5mm plug) that would go into the 3.5mm hole labeled AUX on the back of your new headunit

    EDIT:

Those L in and R in plugs are for a DVD player, game console, or whatever audio signal that goes with a video input (yellow V in plug)

Those would go here, but you need an RCA-3.5mm adapter
    DAEF0A1C-D790-44C6-96C5-D2FD6BA9BFD9.jpg

HOWEVER if you’re using Bluetooth and USB, there aren’t too many times one might use the six jack on the front panel anymore. For example, I have literally never used mine, in my two and a half years owning my truck.
