And I’m going to throw out one more thing, just to be sure. Assuming the answer is yes, but sometimes it’s the little things that get overlooked

The steering wheel control wire is both
    1) plugged into the W/R spot on the radio, and
    2) plugged into the crux module?

They are closed. I will though. Otherwise the headunit sounds fantastic and makes my kicker aftermarket speakers jump. After this I’m installing my Rockford BD1000.1 amp And I think I’m going with the JL Audio dusk 8 inch ported microsub box. Got to trim the plastic behind the seats but looks to fit.

First the GD steering wheels controls ....

So I’ve done everything correctly. Crutchfield said to indie battery and let power fade from truck. Reconnect and as head unit powers on to press the volume button in one second d intervals. He thinks the truck isn’t picking up the interface. We will see...

They are sending a new crux interface. Only other thing it could be unless the head unit itself has a bad connection.

The manual for that interface only says 2012-2017 Tacoma. I don’t expect that to be a problem, and probably just a non-updated manual. 2017-2019 should all be the same.

It could be a defective module. It could be incorrect wiring. It could be a few things. Is there any type of LED on the module, perhaps that lights up when you first cut the truck on? Most modules have some form of light to indicate that it is receiving a button press from the steering wheel.
It’s not going through the trucks data system so they aren’t “talking” to each other. As long as the vehicle section dip switches of the module are correct, it narrows is down to either defective module or incorrect wiring.

    One last thing
The manual shows two different connectors

But you want to be sure you’re using the one with the blue/yellow and green wires

There is only one connector to plug in. I’ll have to check the color wire running to it. This could also be it. Connector is black going in. Don’t recall any light being on either.

so the 2019 interface from crux is the issue. They are redoing the wiring harness with a idatalink interface and reshipping. So for anyone with 2019 or newer the crux is no good. Older models are fine!

Hey they didn't know either....Im not sure what Toyota changed because the radio looks the same...

I guess I am the first guy to not get carplay on an aftermarket unit. I just didn't think the extra money was worth it to me, about $100 plus, to sometimes use navigation on carplay. I have a mount that I am happy with and was more concerned about 4 volt preout and HD radio for sound.

It shouldn’t even have anything to do with CarPlay. Something in the truck changed to make the crux module not work as it did in the earlier years. What that change is, I have no idea.
I assume they’re so used to pushing the Maestro RR that they haven’t actually verified the crux module in the 19’s and just assumed it should work (exactly like I did.) But you’d think if the manual only listed up to 2017, you’d make a phone call to double check.

Oh well I suppose. They are making it right as they usually do, and now they know for future reference.

UPDATE: So I got the idatalink maestro. Went to website to flash for the truck. Needed serial Number....waited until this morning due to time last night got number plugged it in website. Says invalid. F#ck me.

Went to work website now down. Called walked me through it on internet explorer and got the serial number updated. Now flashed the maestro but I am at work. Will try again tonight or in the morning. Crutchfield has great customer service but I am frustrated a simple radio head unit swap is now going on two weeks and alot of back and forth on phone. I kind of wish I just had BestBuy do it and be done. I remember when switching head units used to be simple.

Wow. Still doesn’t work ..... I see one brown wire that has a connector with one metal prong in it but it plugs in nowhere to maestro which I think it should and no where on head unit. I’m about done. Very frustrating and frustrated and Situation
