Sorry if there's already a post about this, but I searched and couldn't find anything. I love my Taco. I really do. However, the infotainment system (and particularly navigation) are... Sub-optimal. Does anyone know if there are replacement HU's out there, or if it's something that can even be done? I'd really really like to be able to put in a HU that uses google navigation - I think pioneer makes one.

I just went to Crutchfield and checked head unit compatibility for the 2016.

Basically, if you have the JBL system, you are out of luck.

If you don't have the JBL, you can fit most any aftermarket head unit and retain most or all of your steering wheel controls.

As far as headhunts, I have the Pioneer AVH-4200NEX in one of my cars and it is absolutely great (Android Auto/Apple Carplay).

It puts Google Maps on the head unit display along with several internet radio sources. Also does the hands-free phone and texting.

You can install any head unit you want in the truck. It will fit a double din aftermarket radio with the exception of those new 8" ones on special vehicles. As for the JBL you can add a new head unit to that, however you might have to bypass the factory amp, thus eliminating it so to speak. But the aftermarket radio will put out more power than the factory unit.

Thanks for the replies. I'll look into that pioneer. Android auto is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. I have a 2016 TRD Sport, and I don't think I have the JBL system - Or at least, if I do, there's not JBL branding everywhere.

Is it a given that the backup camera will still work? I used to be all into car audio when I was younger, but that was before backup cameras became common. Maybe it's a separate cable or something.
