    Okay, I just got a 2009 5 speed Tacoma, and the headlights are pretty dull. I’m going to refinish the assembly surface, but I was wondering if I can get leds to replace the halogens, and if so, what is the cheapest decent pair of headlight bulbs yall know about? I’m not looking to replace the whole headlight assembly, that’s my main concern.

    Do NOT put LED into the standard housings! You will blind the fuck out of everyone at night.

    Headlight services harness recommends trying a certain bulb that doesn’t require the harness if you don’t want that. The caveat is it doesn’t last as long. That’s an option. I think Philips makes it. Extreme vision or something like that. Double check.

    These are noted in "the ultimate headlight upgrade" and are available.
    https://www.powerbulbs.com/us/product/osram-super-bright-premium-h4
    https://www.amazon.com/OSRAM-62204S...GQdg-gdFgvHHg_e5d_tPSc3yb1aGRWc8aAoQYEALw_wcB

    When I replaced the headlight assemblies "buckets" on my 07, these bulbs were included. I do very little nighttime driving so I can't give a first hand it's the best bulb ever testimony.

    From what I've read;
    1) halogen bulbs will dim with usage.
    2) brighter burning bulbs have a shorter life. As noted by @TacoTuesday1

    I mean the Osrams are probably good
    I might’ve got Flosser higher power the first time as it was cheap, available, and good quality.
    Good to keep a spare set in the truck in case one burns out to be ready wherever you are. Which they don’t seem to do often.

    supposedly there’s a good particular bulb for more performance that doesn’t require harness upgrade like these higher wattage ones, if anyone doesn’t want to do the harness for whatever reason.

    If you go on rock auto they have quite a few options for our trucks headlamp bulbs, and they specify whether they are brighter, longer lasting, etc. I have had good luck with the “Hella” brand bulbs that were both brighter and longer listing. Definitely do not do LED.
