Of course there is plenty of black headlight mods and I've even seen a white one on Car Domain. Has anyone seen any other colors? Opinions?

i havent personally seen any other colored inserts...but its all possible. all u need is the paint. i think the color would depend on the overall look the owner is going for. blacked out is obvious, black on white, black on blue, white on white, etc...but i do think that most people like the black on whatever color they have.

I was thinking of something that would stand out with out being obnoxious or crossing some border into not being street legal. Having a white truck, I was thinking blue or red to accent, maybe metallic. Maybe even follow it up with maybe the badging.

Here is the link and some thumbs for white on white and a black on white/ white on white comparison. (From Taco5 @ cardomain.com)

I think I saw blue and red headlights on toyotanation. Might have been photoshopped though.

Yeah, the more I look at the white the better it's looking. Thanks for the input.

I say whatever color your truck is paint the headlights the same. its funny how they are on ebay now black. Why spend 160 dollars + shipping when you can do this yourself in a day for the cost of paint?

When people are doing their blackout mods, what type of black are they using? flat, gloss etc.? Does Krylon even have different options for black?

    Thanks

I used gloss, my g/fs beetle is blue so i did hers in blue. Did my sisters red alreo same body color red. Also an elantra, chevy silverado, monte carlo and an impala. The next car im gutting the lights on is an 06 gli jetta. Those ones are getting shot red.
On my truck i used the gloss black fusion paint from krylon. Worked great no sanding at all!

106Tacoma: You need to come visit me and do mine for me. I dont trust myself enough or have the patience. I can see myself throwing them into a wall after the first 15 minutes.

Personally, i like the black out mod, but i had never seen matching colors before. I really like the white on white look. I have a feeling i'd feel the same way about other colors matching the paint, i like that.

I have never done them before my g/fs bug, its so eassy! Oven at 150 degrees until warm to tuch they come apart like butter, then take your time with the paint, get some new sealer, warm them up in the oven again to gue up the old sealer and press together and let dry! Its so worth it!

Now that's a lower temp than I've heard before. I thought I read preheat to 300, then turn it off when you put the headlights in. How did you come up with 150?

are u guys putting the headlight on something when u put them in the oven? seems like the oven racks at 300 would melt into the headlight assembly no?
