Huh? In my '01 DCSB the lights will turn off automatically when I open the doors if they are left on.

It will take a bit of troubleshooting. I might be able to help. I have a basic model SR5 without electric locks or windows, or tach, etc. My headlight/tail-light reminder does work, however. It emits a constant tone when I open the door. The buzzer sounds like its under the dash near the drivers left knee.

The ignition key reminder seems use the same buzzer. If I leave the key in the ignition, and open the door, the buzzer goes off (pulsing, not constant). I think the "integration relay" controls the sound made by the buzzer, depending on the situation detected.

Does your ignition key reminder work?

Around $26,000 worth of unleaded in the fuel tank.
You could always buy a buzzer from radio shack and put it in where the parking light fuse is. I did that for an old toyota pickup I had.

Shit to tell you the truth I don't think either works but ill check when I get home. Toyota probably sells that little buzzer right?

I couldn't find the buzzer in the wiring diagrams, it may be included in the 'integrated relay'. Likely a pricey item.

If both the ignition and headlight minder are not working, then it might just be a fuse. My FSM lists a blown dome-light fuse under the hood, as a possible cause.

The dome-light also is connected to the door switch. If all three are not working properly, then it could be that door switch, near the drivers left shin.
