Headlights off in drive thru?

Since I lifted my truck, I make it a point to turn off my headlights when I'm waiting in a drive-thru. It seems like a polite courtesy to the cars ahead of me. I know I can't stand my mirrors filled with bright lights when I'm trying to read the menu. I figured this was a common thing until tonight. I was waiting in line when the drive-thru person came over the speaker and said "you know your lights off right?"

Do any of you guys turn your headlights off as a courtesy to cars ahead of you?

If my lights are in the mirror of the person in front of me then yes

 

Even though I only leveled the truck out, I still do it. I can remember driving cars in which SUV/trucks would have their lights on behind me. Was annoying, so I turn em off!

 

I strobe my light bar and rev the engine a bunch... Makes things go faster

 

Do you use that horn thingy and that bumper dodad to get them out of the way?

Yes, it's the polite, courteous thing to do. It's always nice to be considerate to others.

 

All the time. I either leave my fogs or parking lights on.

 

I guess it doesnt really matter what ride youve got because when i used to own a smaller SUV and had my lights on at sonic, a lady got out of her car and walked to my windshield trying to get my attention. When i rolled down my window and asked her what her deal was she said, can you turn off your lights i cant see, youre blinding me for gosh sakes. All with an attitude. The lights remained on.

 

Politeness goes a long way, had you been polite first she might not have been a bitch at all.

 

Yes I do, parking lights only; same going through gate coming on base.

 

have DRL's so i cant turn off even if blinding someone

 

I do parking lights at drive thrus, rail crossings ect.
