OK, hope I don't get hammered for another newby/Oregonian question.

I leave my headlights on all the time and often get gas in the AM when its dark. Like the new Tacoma that turns them off except you have to open the door. My problem is at gas stations. For those of you that don't know Oregon does not allow self serve so no reason to get out/open door.

So is there any way besides opening the door or hitting the headlight switch to turn them off when I stop? With the DRL's I'm always worried I'll take off and forget to turn them back on with the guages lit up.

Maybe a way to disconnect the guages from the DRL or last resort I can disable the whole DRL system. There are to many bad drivers out there, I like my lights on!

    Appreciate any thoughts.

Maybe I don't understand the question, but...why do you have to turn off the lights when getting gas?

No, I think you got it fine. Just bugs me to have them on when I'm sitting there. Also happens when I run errands with my wife and stay in the vehicle which may be longer (much longer) than a fill up.

No help here on the lights but I had no idea you weren't allowed to pump your own gas in Oregon, quick Google search and apparently Jersey is the same way. WTF?

I've never been to Oregan, but I sure didn't know that self-service is banned. Most of the gas stations where I live shut down around midnight. You just pay w/ your debit/credit card at the pump and leave.

Ahh, i think I understand...you have to sit w/ the engine off when you wait, is this correct?

Got to admit it is odd but is has its ups and downs. When its 20 and 40 MPH wind, I don't mind at all. When I'm in a hurry and some guy is dawdling out to pump my gas it annoys me.

Two things have stopped it from changing in Oregon. Our proximity to Vancouver, WA that has self serve and the same price gas and when they try to change it the bring out the what about the elderly/immobile folks.

Grew up here so I am used to it but also lived in ID, CA, and NV so pumping my own is not an issue except for that wonderful gas smell that is hard to get off your hands. Oh, and Hawaii where the disabble the fill lock and you have to stand there and hold it!

I'm with ya man...that would piss me off too. I always took self-serve for granted!
