I have 1 used Left of Steering wheel switch (5 minutes) that I'll offer up if anyone wants it with their kit. It would be $20 off. There are a couple small scratches on the back side of the switch but that part is completely concealed behind the dash anyhow.

Can be set to amber or green and has already been tested and confirmed fully functional. If anyone wants it just post in here to let me know.

This is a possibility if the mirror fold button is a momentary push button. The pic originated in this thread. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-approach-lighting-power-fold-yes-wip.194043/

I'm in. Left of steering 15 minute and amber please. I cannot wait to get this and thank you for offering this. I do have rtmr fuse panel so I won't need a add a fuse but will I still need a relay? I'm a new to this stuff

I am also curious about the need for a relay.

Thanks for the order! Should come in handy in Alberta. The relay is a must... The switches themselves are not rated for the amount of amperage that the mirrors draw, so using a relay keeps the load from running through the switch.

It's possible to run it hooked up to the relay on your RTMR box but would need the harness to be customized and redesigned which could be a time consuming affair. The best way would be to just have it powered from one of your fused leads. I will need to know what wire length you need for the power lead. Basically if you can tell me how many feet to go from the fuse panel behind the coin tray over to your RTMR box and give yourself a little bit of extra length so you don't end up short.

My plan, so far, is to use this aux fuse box that is mounted but not wired, and find a nearby spot to mont a plate with some relays nearby.

I have all my wire pulled up to the switch blanks on the left of the steering wheel. So I should just be able to tie into one of those wires for power if I'm correct. Also with the mirrors I don't need to file down or alter the clips it will just be a push on and be good?

Yes that makes sense. If you are heart set on using a relay under the hood then I could probably make a modified version of the harness, but it would be an extra cost. Unfortunately some things like that burn up some decent time in reconfiguring it. There is also a possibly hurdle of actually running the wiring through the firewall. On one end of the harness would be a relay plug / connector and on the other end would be the female switch connector, I have my doubts that either would slip through any available openings in the firewall.

Would likely need to have something such as colour coded bullet terminals so that the wires could be ran through the fire wall and then quickly reconnected.

    Some things to consider :)

Are the wires you have already routed fused leads or are they relay outputs/inputs? The mirrors are completely plug and play. The clips are actually quite stiff and take a decent amount of pressure to pop into place, however that is also the case with the mirrors already present on our trucks. Basically the part of the backing plate on the mirror that snaps into place is configured the same so it is a direct replacement with no modifications needed

They are relay inputs for some and just fused outputs for others.

Okay well the easiest way would be to use one of your fused outputs to power the harness instead of an add a fuse. It could be done with one of your relays too but would need two wires at that point ran through the firewall, one to trigger the relay from the switch and the other to power up the harness.

Also worth mentioning that to trigger the relay the switch provides a ground to the relay coil. Basically a to trigger a relay you need one lead to provide a ground and another lead to provide 12v. In this set up the relay has a constant 12v on one lead and the switch provides a connection to ground to trigger the relay.

So I guess to make a long explanation short. It is possible to use one of the relays in your RTMR if configured correctly, but easier to just use one of your fused leads.

Thanks for the time and attention.

Considering I am doing! I am now thinking...that I should use your kit as you build it, and keep the aux fuse panel for my fridge etc.

I am just back from picking up a battery isolater as I have decided to run another battery. Upon reflection the heated mirrors belong on the starter batter side, the house battery side being saved for fridge lights etc.

No problem at all. Just want to make sure we get it the way you want. Okay so it sounds like you will stick with the kit the way it is built.

I think your plan with the extra battery sounds solid, keep it dedicated to a number of accessories that you have plans to add on.

Just so you guys know I'll be leaving to go camping with the wife and kid in a few hours. We prefer to find lakes out in the boonies to camp at rather than provincial parks so I won't be available to answer any questions until I get back which will be sometime Sunday afternoon.

Sounds good. I think I might just stick to your original kit and just add a fuse to the ignition fuse. Sorry to be a PIA

Nah not a PIA at all. I kept reworking this harness until I was satisfied "It's so easy even a cave man can do it" lol. But I'll gladly be around to answer any questions that come up.
