What kind of locker are you getting? I've been thinking about getting one, but I probably won't for a while...

What swayed you towards the grizzly locker, if you don't mind me asking?
I've been hesitant about automatic lockers because, although they are cheaper, I've heard about them engaging on turns, which doesn't sound like a good thing to have happen to me.

Middle of the road. I didn't want a cheap lunchbox locker and I didn't want an expensive arb. Since I was getting gears put in at the same time I went for the grizzly. That, and I was advised that they are good quality.

To answer the second part of your question-- You can get a lunch box locker for pretty cheap and install it yourself to save money. As far as not unlocking around turns... Driving it might take you a bit to get used to, but most guys running them don't seem to have an issue. You're thinking of locking the rear, correct?

Thanks! Did you go with the trail gear bumper? I'll have to get a set of those bead rails. Did they mount up pretty easy?

Way to easy to install just a little drilling 5 holes per rail. No I found a local Guy that built one for his truck then he decided to bob his bed and it didn't fit anymore looks a lot like the trail gear and it has a swing arm that holds my spare tire Jerry can and my air tank got it for 100 bucks check my pictures its in there

Looks good! I'm going to have to check some junk yards for some of those bed rails. I should have tore them off my second gen before I traded it in... Hahaha! Sounds like you got a good deal on a bad ass bumper!

How did you do this? Did you take the wheels off the truck and the tires off the wheels to do this (e.g. spray paint) or did you hand paint all the detail? What a huge improvement! Did you use a special wheel paint?

Sweet build!!! Good luck on the SAS!!!! Wish I had a pre-taco.... so much cheaper to build up. Will you be installing the gears or locker yourself?

    Thanks!

Took the wheels and tires off the truck. There are a few write ups on here about tucking note cards in between the wheel and tire to mask it off. I tried that... It was windy so there's some overspray on the tires, but it's not too bad. I used a wheel paint from the autoparts store. It comes in a rattle can and does a good job of covering up imperfections. Used a wire wheel, sandpaper and degreaser to prep them. I'm pleased with how they turned out.

Thanks! It's way cheaper to sas a pickup than a Tacoma! Still not cheap tho... Lol. I sent the rear third to Addicted Offroad to get gears and a grizzly locker installed. I'm planning on regearing the front myself (or at least attempting it.) :D

Yeah I know.... Good luck on the front! Are you going to re-gear the IFS diff or not waste your time and just re-gear your SFA? I guess it depends on how many parts you still need for the SAS...

Just going to regear the solid axle. I expect to have it under the truck in the next few weeks. I've already spent too much on upgrading the ifs stuff... And I'm just going to remove it. So, for several weeks I will have mismatched gears...

This is a awesome build, and the fact that it's a girls ride makes it that much better!

What kind of suspension setup are you going to run with your SAS? Are you doing any kind of axle re-build while you have it apart?

I'm going to run the Trail Gear 4" leaf spring kit. Yeah, the axle needs some work...

I saw your build on here-- your truck is bad ass!
