is a taller tire worse on your mpg or a heavier tire? is diameter a bigger issue than weight is to try and keep mpg closer to stock? any input i know a heavier tire will lower mpg but is it more than the diameter alone or equal? ive seen some 265 70 17s that weigh the same as my 285/70/17... so i guess im asking is weight more of an issue or the diameter for mpg / performance. any input greatly appreciated.

Generally speaking, weight would be more of an issue.

That was the conclusion I came to in my calculations.
