you'll see a spongy rubber seal where all the other wires pass through the firewall from the factory. you should find it behind the brake pedal.

A few mods here and there and counting....
Just wanted to thank you Klipp11. I used your how-to and mounted the hella 500s via the aluminum bar. I have not done the hid conversion but pretty confident it will be an easy task when i get around to it Only key difference I did was used an oem fj cruiser switch to keep the factory look on the dash.

Just finished mine. Using your write up (which was great btw), as well as your same measurements for the light mounts. Love them, hope to go HID with everything soon.

One question. My 500's sit flush against my grille. They don't bulge it out at all, but I was concerned about heat issues with the lights/grille. Can I melt my grille finish, especially when I go HID?

Klipp11, thanks for the excellent satoshi write-up. You helped out a lotta TW members, including myself. There is a definite pride in doin-it-yerself, along with bragging rights. My next mod will be a fuse block before I refer to your "Hella HID Conversion & Mount" as a guide.

Could you have just mounted the horn on the aluminum bar that holds the HELLA lights? I am doing this upgrade this weekend

Nice write up man! I hope to do this soon to my truck...

Does anyone know if this can be done with the hella 500 Black Magic? I'm not sure if the black magic are wider or something.

    The black magics are 8 7/8" H x 7 3/8" W x 3 7/16" D
    The 500's are 6 3/8" H x 6 7/8 W x 2 5/8" D

It was already tight with the 500's

Alright, thanks for that info... I just go with the 500's then and I'll get that smoked lens cover for them.

Hey do you know if 55w hid would be ok for the 500's? Because I already have 55w kit that I'm not using and I wonder if I can use thm in the hella 500's.

Nice write up! I am currently gathering everything I need for the mod. I was wondering if I could use an OEM looking switch like and ARB. What kind of switch does it have to be? I get confused when it comes to the differnce between SPST, DPST, SPDT and DPDT. Any input would be great. I am using hella 500's with a DDM HID kit.

no idea what your acronyms mean, but any switch you want to use will work fine.
