    so I stacked 2 pieces of aluminum for strength...no bounce now, but there still is a bit of a jiggle when I go over bumps...will probably replace the mounting bar when I convert to HID's...

    not sure if this q was asked, but how did u know what bulb size to use? does the hella box tell you what bulb type the stock halogens are? ex: H3, H4 etc... :confused:

    Just got me some 500s and this writeup is perfect! Thanks! I will post pics too when I get them done in the next week or so.

    sorry, no idea. can't imagine they would be too different, but I haven't seen the 1000's myself. I'd just find out what bulb type they use, and retrofit with the same type in HID :thumbsup:

    yo the hids that you used to convert your hellas, were they H3??? im in the process of a conversion but just want to be sure i get the right bulb...lemme know please. thanks. oh yea the stock bulbs on my hella 1000s (halogen bulbs) say H2 but the vendor im trying to buy hids from say they arent made in H2 he was suggesting H3 but i want to be sure it will work...???

    I want this set up SO badly! I just ordered these headlights from e-bay (I'd like to RetroFit some HIDs)

    I've recently completed my Satoshi mod.

    I'm just not confident enough in my electrician skills...or lack there of... to get into this. I wish there were more TW guys in my area so we could do a mod day! It seems like only the SoCal guys ever follow through with that!

    This may be a dumb question, but what's the point of the conversion? I mean I know for increased light output, but can't you buy the lights with HIDs already in them? Is it cheaper to DIY?

    well im converting the hella black magics...they have black housing for a blacked out look when the lights are off, and im pretty sure hella is the only company making lights with the black housing but they do not come HID unfortunately...

    just checked ddm tuning's site where i bought my hid bulbs / ballasts, and they don't have h2's listed. h1's or h3's. but when i googled h2 hid bulb, other sites do carry them, so they do exist. it's up to you if you want to try the h3's, as long as they fit well in the housing and stay secure it'll work; personally i'd hit up another vendor that can supply the h2's
