    Thanks Klipp! Perfect write-up!

Do you guys have any pictures or info how & where you mounted the ballasts and wiring?

I just finished mine and ended up mounting the ballasts to the mount with velcro. You can see them back there. They look OK, but I'm interested in some different ideas.

    QUESTION:

    1. why the epoxy holding the light into the housing, rather than silicone? because if you ever have to change a bulb... how do you get the epoxy off?

    2. ive never worked with HIDs before, but does the alignment of the bulb matter? Meaning the blue line on the "bottom" of the bulb, does that have to go on the bottom? or can it be on the side or on top?

    cheers

    1. the epoxy bonds the surfaces together, whereas silicone might make a temporary seal but won't hold the bulb in place nearly as well as epoxy will. i've been running the original bulbs i installed for about a year with zero problems. after working with the stuff, i'm confident that if i ever had to change the bulb, i'd be able to pry the epoxy from the light housing to break the seal, and epoxy the new bulb in place fairly easily.

    2. just look at the grooves / notches in the housing and line up the bulb accordingly. it only goes in one way properly, and you'll adjust the beam to where you want it when you secure the light to its mount on the truck.

Have you had any problems with epoxy dripping into the housing?
I think some did, and may have run down the bulb. The contacts aren't connected, but should that be a problem?

the epoxy i used set very quickly and dripping was never an issue for me. i say just use it as is, and if the bulb goes, deal with replacing it then.

    Hey man...
It's that time, second light looks and works great, but the first dripped down, an the bulb flashes on, but won't stay on. I figure it's because the dripped epoxy.

Thanks for all your help. I'm wicked excited

You'll probably just want the 5000k as well. The 55w will bleach out the color a little bit, but if you are trying to match, the 4300k will just look too yellow even with 55w.

Or maybe even more, as my 8000k 55s, are a tad more yellow than my 6000k 35s, just saying...
