Hi there from the (not-so-sunny at the moment) coast of California!

Figured I'd go ahead and introduce myself as I just picked up an '01 Tacoma yesterday from a small dealer we have around here.

As I have 4 motorcycles and ride year round I figured it was about time to get a cage to keep me a little bit drier on those stupid wet days (I hit a 6" deep puddle going 30, great for trucks, not for motorcycles).

I had 3 non-negotiables when looking at vehicles.

    1. It MUST BE MANUAL. I despise automatic vehicles (at least in my price range)

    2. It MUST have at minimum, a 3 liter engine. I track my motorcycles and I'm tired of bumming a ride of my buddy.

    3. It MUST have at minimum, 4 seats. The frequency at which I will transport people (or even drive for that matter) will be very low but I need those capabilities.

After close to a month of bouncing around on CL and dealers around here, I was exasperated and frustrated with dealers attempting to tell me how challenging it was going to be to find a vehicle of that nature and why don't I just take this civic out for a ride....:mad::mad:

I manage to walk onto a lot and spot a '01 Taco that didn't even have its stickers on it yet. I put $500 deposit to hold it and told them to do the inspection and call me when it was done.

Long way to say, I am now the proud owner of a 2001 Toyota Tacoma xCab with 5 on the floor, 4WD (just a bonus for me), 3.4 liter with a targa cover. I'm happy with the price I paid and I'm happy with the truck after having driven it close to 150 miles already!

    For your enjoyment....

Welcome to TW. Nice find, looks like my truck when I bought it. I agree that 5-speed is the only way to go. I am sure you will get many years of utility and enjoyment with your Taco.
