Hi there. I'm picking up an 03 Tacoma tomorrow (extended cab, V6, manual trans, 4wd, TRD, SR5) Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm from MN, work as a Honda tech. My other vehicle is a 93 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4.

Just wanted to know what I should look out for with these trucks. Only problem I noticed with the one I bought is that the rear diff is whining on deceleration, which I'm assuming means it either needs the fluid changed or it needs to be adjusted.

Yeah unfortunatly the VR4 is down with T case and trans failure right now.

Yeah I'm looking more into problems and whatnot right now. This is going to pretty much be my daily driver so mechanically it's going to stay pretty much stock. I know that they're very reliable, but everything has problems, just wondering if there were any patern failures.

I was told about a recall on the lower ball joints. Does that apply to all Tacomas or is it only some of them?

And I plan on doing a full fluid change this week. I'd much rather know when they were all changed last than be guessing.

I'll post some pictures of it after I pick it up. In the mean time here is a pic of my VR4.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on getting your tacoma. Lots of experienced folks here who will steer you in the right direction on your questions.
