This is a tough question to answer, as there are many options available, and big price ranges. I got leather heated seats, chrome step tubes, side impact air bags etc... Mine was about 30k

A couple of sites to try. These will give you a ballpark of what you might expect to pay. And you can always negotiate a price lower than these sites show. I was able to get another grand knocked off the price. On the carsdirect, after you have selected the vehicle and all the options. At the bottom select quotes from dealers (this option is free). the other one carsdirect charges a fee to negotiate a deal for you. You can do just as good on your own. Also print a copy of the quote from these sites & take with you to the dealers. It gives you something to go by when negotiating. One dealer told me that with carsdirect; I get a better deal than someone that walked off the street.

Go to consumer reports website and purchase the auto price for 14.00. It tells you exactly what you should be paying. It is a somewhat below invoice. Tells all prices paid for by dealer for options and vehicle, rebates, kickbacks etc. You buy each report for the model you want - V6 or base etc. Will help you a great deal to negotiate with dealer. GOOD LUCK!

Carsdirect & edmunds shows all that for free. I ran the options just to see what a DC would cost & it came back $1700 below invoice on carsdirects website

Don't offer the trade until you have a final price. Then go by the way I would like to see about trading my old vehicle.

For mine in 2005 that included T,T, & fees, plus I added a towbar & tonneau cover. paid $23,000 total drive out price. It was stickered for $29,000. Payments are $212 every 2 weeks (they come out of my paycheck at the credit union).

Agreed. Telling them you are trading right off the bat plays right into their hands. Get your best price on the truck (invoice or better). In my experiences, internet sales quotes very close if not dead on the invoice pricing usually, then when you get the best price you can on the truck, mention your trade and haggle them till you feel satisfied.
Payments are going to vary as everyones credit and options are different. Toyota will match the best rate a credit union will give you.

Dunno about that trade-in strategy. Trade can make the deal. They are sometimes much more willing to boost trade value than lower the vehicle price. Accounting games.

I got $13K trade for a '98 suburban with 100K miles and a nice set of hail dings. At least $3k more than KBB said it was worth in spring 2007. The deal wouldn't have happened without the trade offer.

I disagree. The more they give you for your trade, the less they take off the price of their vehicle. Its just a game they play where you think youre getting a great deal on your trade.

    For instance...

The first dealer i went to, gave me a decent price on their truck, it was $300 over invoice since i mentioned the costco program (they have to sell the vehicle for $300 over invoice so they said). i thought it was a great deal at the time till i researched some more and then they only offered 10k for my trade with an absolute max of 10500 if i bought within 48hours.

2nd and 3rd dealer gave 11500 as their first and only trade offer (one dealer was gmc - the other another toyota) but the toyota deal was not quite as good as the deal as dealer #1 as they held ground for a bit, they claimed trucks were totally different with otpions even though the msrp's were very similar and they simply couldnt match the price, blah blah. but when i expressed the fact they didnt even have the truck i wanted anyways and after many hours of wasting my time, they actually had a better deal then dealer #1 but simply didnt have the truck i wanted even though they could get it so they said in a matter of days - this was my worst experience of all.

i visited the dealer that i knew had the truck i wanted and wound up buying from gave me the best price on the truck right off the bat, then offered 11000 for my trade... which i haggled for 11500 to match the other dealers (tried for 12000 but they wouldnt do it) for trade and another $300 off their truck which came to $300 under invoice plus $1k gas card.

mine had a msrp of $30k. I got it for $26.5k

this was back in 2006 when gas prices weren't so high and there were no rebates.

you should be able to get at $4k-$4.5k off msrp now with the rebate and slow sales of trucks due to gas prices.

There is a $2000 rebate on the 2008 Tacoma or in lieu of the rebate 0.0% financing.

    2008 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner V6 4x2 Double-Cab 127.8 in. WB (with rebate)
    TRD sport package #1

I did it with my zip code( I didn't know yours, price might be a little different)

    MSRP $26495
    Invoice: $24538
    Cars Direct price: $22738

This makes me seriously think about upgrading to a newer vehicle. Only if I can keep my wheels.
