Has anyone attempted to bypass their brake pedal for the sake of starting the truck with the push button start? Most days I start it several minutes before I leave for work and it would be easier if I can just reach in and push the button without having to also hold down the brake pedal with the other hand at the same time.

Am I lazy? Sure. But can you blame me for wanting to simply things?

I too am guilty of spending hours and hours on a project to save myself a few seconds over a lifetime.

Well I'm not a fan of starting the motor more than what's necessary; just more wear and tear on the motor, starter, battery, alternator, etc. Using the remote start and having to start it again before driving isn't as bad as multiple cold starts (at least the oil will have been circulating from when it was just running), but I look it as essentially cutting the lifespan of the parts that are affected during a startup in half if I'm having to start it twice every time I drive it.

If the remote start worked as it should and opening the doors didn't shut the motor off, I would have already had it installed.

They say necessity is the mother of invention. I say nowadays it's convenience.

    :p

I'm sure not all remote starts require you to restart it

So far no one has been able to figure out how to do this on the Tacomas. Toyota makes it a lot harder than other companies apparently.

We don't warm up theses new vehicles, it's an old practice. The engines are well build to close tolerances, warming them is simply not needed. I've also read thing like at idle there's a chance for dry areas etc. Just hop in, turn the key and drive..

    Just sayin..

I am interested in this myself. On the jeep I could just reach through and turn the key if I thought it needed to charge or to get the heat going. Seems silly but I don't like having to walk around to the drivers side and get in to start it.

Well, This is what I've read. I think it has something to do with 0w20. I'm no engineer, but I do live in Canada.. lol.. It's not needed and possibly harmful..

Your money, your engine, your call. I'm just saying there's alternatives.

I work on vehicles with gasoline engines with 7500+ hours on them. Most of those being idle time. They operate just fine. But what do I know

Engine may be ok after a few seconds. But people forget power steering, trans, and diffs. Of course diffs won't warm up until you drive a little

You would loose the radio on feature (without motor running) if you did this override mod. I like to sit at a Sonic or wait in the parking lot and listen to the radio....one push of the button without pushing down the pedal turns the radio on only. Is loosing this feature ok with you?
