weird one guys. 2014 DC. 6000 miles. just went to fill up and tried three gas stations. no gas will go into the tank! all appears normal. is there supposed to be a little flap over the fill up hole? the gas nozzle/handle will just click like the auto shut off and no gas will flow!

This happens to me on occasion, it is so f'n annoying. I've never had it happen as much as this though. Like @StOrMyThEtAcO said try filling slowly, hold the handle halfway

Are you one to top off your gas tank?

thanks so much for the quick replys! I'm 100 miles from home in the middle of nowhere. on my way to the fourth gas station. this is so strange... I'll try the nice and slow approach. f'n weird. seems I remember a little hinged flap over the hole that seems to be missing on mine. maybe that's just other vehicles. the little details we forget. yikes. I was poking around with a pen to see if the flap was stuck in the "up" position and realized I better stop before I drop the pen in the tank. I don't need that right now.

Remove the bundles from the tank and you will fill properly...where I am at in Deep south Texas that is the first thing we look for.

This has happened to me to on occasion but not a lot. Slow was the key for me.

    this will work too.

what might be happening is if you've been over filling your gas tank your charcoal canister might be clogged, or maybe spiders, or something is causing clogged air lines so the air cant escape

This vehicle has an onboard vapor recovery system. By that I mean as you're filling up the vehicle the pressure that is created in the fuel tank is sent to a vapor recovery valve on top the fuel tank. It then funnels the vapor through the charcoal canister and out to the atmosphere. When this onboard vapor recovery valve sticks or the drain hose on the charcoal canister becomes restricted it does not allow this vapor to vent. This in turn causes the fuel shutoff valve on the nozzle to shut the fuel off. It thinks the tank is full because of the pressure build up. I have seen everything from the onboard vapor recovery valve bad or the drain hose for the charcoal canister restricted by mud dauber wasps in such. Have both of these items checked. Let me know you find.

thanks for the info- all of you. I'll get these things you mentioned checked and report back. I often have a little trouble and have to pull the trigger and jiggle the handle once or twice, prob all normal, but this deal today was a first. anyway, glad to be home. oh, and I had a tail wind so made up for lost time. thanks again, all.

Could running the tank to an extreme low cause this. I had this happen once and it was the lowest my gas tank ever got. I got caught in some unexpected traffic and my tank dropped much lower than I ever let it. Finally got a gas station and was only able to get 25-30 cents or so in at a time. Tried multiple pumps at the station and was only able to get like a gallon in ten minutes. All the while plenty of people were at the station and filling up fine. After getting a gallon in I drove a couple miles to a different station and all was fine. Been fine since. Weird stuff

interestingly, I did notice upon filling up that it was the lowest I'd ever let it get. it took 18.54 gallons. I'd just come off about 170 miles of interstate in the rain.

Don't bottom out the nozzle. If I do it won't pump. Go figure the one time in life I can actually bottom out and I can't even do it

I never "top off" my tank. I just stop as per the auto shut off on the pump.

Overfilling is also a good way to ruin the charcoal canister. It's only a $400 part that has no aftermarket equivalent so you pay dealer prices.

Seems cheaper in the long run to stop pumping when it clicks off by itself.

I filled my truck up today and noticed the flap I remembered is missing. I believe it's a case of faulty memory, must have been some other vehicle.
