TW - I need some help. I bought a set of steel wheels off CL for winter that came with center caps. I'm putting them in today, but I can't get the center caps to stay on. I've tried to use a rubber mallet to pound them on, but that doesn't work either. Any suggestions?

Do you have a McGard locking lug nut in place? The center cap won't clearance the "ring" around that sucker...remove that lug nut, then try.

They won't stay on the wheel if its not mounted to the truck. They are meant for you to mount the wheel to the truck, then lightly tap them on

They sandwich between the wheel hub opening and the hub

I set the wheel on the hub, hand tighten all the lug nuts, then tap the center cap on, THEN tighten them with the air gun.

Then torque the lugs when the truck is back on the ground

The lug nuts do not hold on the center caps, correct?

Correct. The metal tabs on the center cap sandwich between the hub and the wheel

@AR15xAR10 thanks for the help. I was able to easily install the center caps once the wheels were in the truck. Appreciate the help.
