I have a 2013 6cyl Tacoma 4X4. Today my catalytic converter heat shield fell off. I retrieve what i thought was all the parts. What i have is a upper heat shield and a clamp for that to attach to. also a hose Type clamp to hold it to the pipe. parts pictured. the problem i have is any parts diagrams I can find show it as a two piece heat shield. I even had dealer look it up with my vin #.
My first thought is i lost the lower half at another time and did not realize. But this does not explain the bracket I have that goes around the catalytic converter. I cant find this bracket in any parts diagram.
Does any ones else have this installed this way?
I also wondering if i even need this shield they do not use one on the passengerIMG_20220314_153519.jpg IMG_20220314_153531.jpg Screenshot 2022-03-14 at 15-56-54 EXHAUST PIPE. 2013 toyota Tacoma Toyota.jpg side converter

Stainless steel Zip-Ties have worked for other. Some even used really big screw type hose clamps.

Harbor Freight sells the Stainless Zip-Ties.

x3 on throwing it in the trash can. Mine had a rattle from a rock, cut off the shield and then I cleaned the whole cat out. It ran great...

Yes I do, had the same problem, the bottom shield fell off in the driveway as all the bolts rusted off. The bracket you see is a buffer that goes inside the shield and comes with each shield. Mine was covered in a mesh and I suspect acts as a buffer between the cat and the shield. I put stainless bolts and nuts plus washers back in, the round clamp goes around the rear lips of the shields and is secured with a bolt and nut. A big thing that I noticed is that the nuts and bolts that hold the exhaust pipes together are also rotted out and will need replaced on mine in the near future.

It's a 2 piece as the diagram shows.
Only on driver's side to protect the front driveshaft, xfer actuator, and less heat up to the floor.

^^^ Ah, loooks like you did lose the other half. The 'bottom' one looks to have that square drain hole in it.

Like us and other mentioned, just leave it all off.

IMG_20220214_112947036_HDR.jpg That sucks, my cats don't look that bad after two years but the rest of the exhaust looks like it's lived at the beach it's whole life, only rust on the whole truck.

Being you appear to be in NY and you have developed this rust problem, have you carefully inspected your frame?
