I bought a 2.7with an automatic and need it for pulling my boats out of the river, yea primitive boat launches I would like to posi the differential for that reason. The only wrecking yards that have a e lock are the wrong gear ratio. Any experience with the changes? Also the springs on the rear flex excessively, I can put the truck in park and move the truck 6 inches forward and back with the only flex in the springs. I need to fix these!!! Please help!!!

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Whats the gear code on the door? It will look like this.

You will probably be fine if you want to pick up an e-locker, but you willl have to change the entire rear. The third won't fit in the non-TRD housing. You best bet would be to get a Power Trax or Detroit TruTrac

Detroit makes a Tru Track that works well in these trucks

What about the slop in the springs? When I stop the whole reared feels like it rolls forward. I've changed the carrier bearing and replaced the shocks and cannot make anything move but the springs when I rock it. VERY irritating. The springs were made in Mexico, has that been a problem. Thanks on the differential info tho experience is great teacher

The truck was used a lot for moving as the original owner told me.That would probably make u correct. Would it be easier to replace all the springs with 4wd springs and add new bushings than adding just 1spring? The original owner bought a Ford bet he misses his Taco pre runner by now. My last ford had so many recalls half of my miles were for fixing things that should never been used
