I just bought my 3rd tacoma. It is a 97 2.7L 4x4 xtra cab. It has a 174000 miles on it. I am wondering what kind of tune up I should do? Looks like it has the original wiring harness. Pretty much stock from the ground up. I don't think the owners 2 of them did anything to the truck. What should be done and what do you think it should cost?

    thank you

Welcome to TW. I would change the plugs, oil and filter, air filter, fuel filter and inspect the antifreeze. A good greasing and brake inspection would be good too. Look for exhaust leaks and inspect the frame. Tend to accordingly. If I missed something someone will chime in.

new 31x10.5 tires, mag wheels, drilled rotors, new sound, and a cb.
A new pcv valve will keep the crank case pressure in check.

All excellent and very essential advice so far in this thread.

As for spark plug wires, I swapped mine out in my old '95 Pickup and holy crap did it make a difference with only 160,000 kilometres on it!

I also Seafoamed it fully (gas tank, case and vacuum line), which I found worked very well but have had reservations about doing it with my "new" 03 Taco.

But a Seafoam debate is another thread.
