This is the exact height and wheels I'd like to put on. The owner said it's a 3" low range lift with 285/65/18 with -12 offset.
My question is which good quality lift to buy to match that. I basically want the best ride for my road princess but with decent off-road capability. I read bad things about rough country lifts, but read good things about TOYTEC lifts and found 3 complete kits on their website. Boss Suspension, Boss Performance, and Old Man Emu.
I also read this thread and the owner said he loves his set up "885 coils with 5100s all around"
Is that better than the TOYTEC lifts?

I'm a little confused with wheel offset. A higher negative offset number basically means the face of the rim is deeper in the wheel..correct? So I think I like the look of -12 offset

Does -12 offset have negative effects compared to +1?

    Thanks...

I am also heavily researching about a new suspension setup along with a set of lightweight 16-18" wheels. Currently, I have stock SPORT suspension and I don't have any problems with its ride quality.
I barely have time and locations nearby for off-road so maybe once in a year. I am curious as to after how many inches of lift things such as bearings, CV axles begin to break down at a quicker rate? Is 2 inch lift considered the least amount of increate in wear/tear rate? I'd probably be happy with 2 inch lift since my purpose is mostly for the appearance of the truck.
I certainly don't want to increase the sway on highways and curves as it is my daily driver so going more than 2 inches will probably open a can of worms for me.

On road I don't know if I will have a significant benefit with Coilovers such as ICONs vs Bilstein shocks with some coils.
I am not going to add some cheap spacers just to lift the truck despite being on road, research has confirmed this is a bad route therefore one might as well wait and save for the proper suspension lift.
Lastly, I think I read somewhere on the forums that sport stock wheel has +30mm offset, with that being said what is a safe range of offsets for my truck which won't cause issues? I am guessing stay between 0 to 30mm?
Looking forward to meaningful advice from experienced folks on the community.

    For Lift: Kings or Fox
In your particular situation, I would lean towards adjustable fox shocks. They have two compression rate settings for low and high speeds. King has one speed adjustment. They are both great shocks and you'll hear many pros and cons about both from different folks. An additional thing to consider is rebuild time. I believe fox takes longer to rebuild if I remember correctly.

Wheel Offset: Closer to stock is best.
I have - 12 on stock suspension. It sticks out roughly an inch past the fender. Looks cool, but have had some issues with stability. Check out my post about it. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/trd-or-feels-unstable-uncontrollable.535181/#post-17216012
Will be getting an alignment tonight so it will hopefully get better.

Heres a tip on your wheel size choice.
The bigger the rim the less sidewall your tire will have which means rougher ride quality.
    I went with 17x9 -12 offset with 265 70 17 and if I had it to do over I would have went 16" wheels with 0 offset and 285 70 16 tires

Offset doesn't mean a whole lot without knowing the rim width.
    Sports are 7.5".
    Most aftermarket start at 8".
    TRD aftermarket are 7"-8".
Good rule of thumb is, enough offset to get 4.5" backspacing for a lifted suspension; especially if you go wider on the tire.

20180224_164332.jpg I went with kings set up paired with an icon AAL in the rear. Adjusted the coilover for about 3in up in front and put me at about 2.5in in the rear. Truck sits perfectly level and ride quality is great!

A 9" wide wheel with -12mm offset will have 4.5" of backspace.
The stock wheel has 5" of backspace.
With a 3" lift, you want 4.5" or less of backspace for suspension clearance.
Should work...depending on how wide of a tire you mount.
