Help with wheel bearing!

Hey guys/gals I'm needing to replace a bad wheel bearing on the front left I have a 2007 2wd Tacoma and here's the wheel bearing assembly I bought, well the other part that has the studs for your lug nuts does that have to be press in with a pressing machine or can it be installed by hand?

You need a multi-ton press to remove the wheel hub from the existing bearing. Very few vendors offer a pre-assembled hub-bearing unit. The best so far has been Bamatoy: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-ive-done-the-work-you-save-the-money.288282/

 

Ok thanks guys, I was pretty sure it had to be press in but I was just checking before I do replace it

 

Prerunner requires a special socket for the nut too.

 

I changed mine without a press. Just used a small sledge and a block of wood, but I'm a professional hillbilly engineer.

 

How are the bearings and assemblies made by MOOG, any good any issues?

Thanks for all of the kind words. I do feel I have a superior quality part and customer service. That part linked above is just the bearing assembly. It does NOT include the hub, which is the majority of the work on these.

Okay, so i replaced my passenger front wheel bearing/hub with a complete assembly.. the bolt in kind with no pressing required.

I swapped out the pieces, greased everything sparingly [light coat across everything] and torqued all hardware to manufactures spec.

The problem: i drove it about 300 ft from the house, i live on a gravel road. And have some serious creaks and groans going on. So much so i was afraid i hadnt installed something right and took it back to the garage. *the dust cover isnt on the hub assembly as i am going to replace it, but thats it.

I had engaged 4wd and left the drivers tire on the ground when i swapped the assembly. Sounds occur with and w.o 4wd on. I didnt do much checking of the splines when i installed, as i figured if it slid and bolted on i was lined up..

Any ideas???

 

Make sure you didn't slightly bend the brake dust shield, it maybe rubbing on the disc.

It sounds like a louder continuous cycling of some squeaky ass suspension.
