Going to do what I need to now to go ahead and get 285/75-16s on. I'm choosing the Hercules TG Maxx tires for weight and the tread pattern. There was one guy that bought some several months ago, but has disappeared from the forum.

Anyone else have any experience with these tires? I'm going Monday, so any info before them is appreciated. I know Hercules is reputable and a branch of Cooper. I know the Terra Trac ATs are good too. Thanks .

20180322_163152.jpg Got one to test fit. I like it. Aggressive but looks road friendly.

@Harvo can you provide early feedback on these tires? These are buy 3 get 1 free right now. Seems like a good looking tire but not a whole lot of info out there about them.

I still have the TG Maxx on a work truck that are doing well enough. I don't drive that truck though so I'm not sure how they are actually handling.

I still only have the one tire. I haven't made it back to the shop to get the other 3 mounted yet.

I just bought 4 of these for my first gen and I love them, ride comfortably, minimal noise and the handling is great. I'll check back in after I put more miles on them but first impression is that they are a solid tire.

I guess I should continue this thread since I started it...

I finally got the complete set. I had them put on the stock OR rims to use primarily offroad, and as the DD tires after my Ridge Grapplers wear out. I want to keep my better rims from getting beat up too badly. I will be mounting these today. For any of you "old timers", the tire reminds me ALOT of the original Dunlop Rover. (Not the Mud Rover), but the Rover AT. That used to be my favorite tire and what I would call the original "hybrid" tire way before that was even a thing. The tread is super deep (I'll get real life measurements when I mount it). Un-mounted, it really doesn't look 285 wide though. This may be a good thing for fitment. Again, I'll get a mounted measurement later today.

    Manufacturers specs

    LT285/75R16 Load Range E Tread Depth 18.5 Section Width 11.30 Diameter 32.99 Weight 56.54

They are only 2 lbs. heavier (ea.) than my Nitto Ridge Grapplers in 265/70-17.

If anyone ever has questions about these tires, I hope this helps...

This is not a "review" as you can't review something this new. These are first impressions.

    - The TGs are quiet and smooth. They are a little quieter than the Ridge Grapplers were new.
    - To me they look tall and slightly narrow compared to other 285s. It could be the wheel width causing this. It's wider than the 265's... but not a lot.
    - They roll light. Best way I can describe it. They are very close to the same weight as the 265 Graps, and on these stock wheels... I think the combination is lighter. They don't feel at all sluggish like I was expecting.
    - The only thing I have driven them in yet is torrential rain. They don't hydroplane in puddles. They have siping so they don't slip. They are as good as the Graps in the rain.

I think they look good too. I do wish the sidewall tread was a little "meaner". I'm pumped to try them off road.

We participated in the Red Clay Rally last weekend, which consisted of hundreds of miles of road and dirt. Three, six hour days on these tires. OFF road, we experienced constant mud, some deep holes, sand stone ledges, and really fast dirty and gravel roads. I never once got stuck, and the truck made every climb unassisted.
ON road, they remained balanced and provided a smooth ride. They are slightly noisier than when new, but still very sedate.

@MGMTaco17 it was at a Goodyear service center in Foothill Ranch. Not sure if this deal is still available or not though.
