Agreed. They stamped the shift pattern on an auto knob. Didn't bother centering it.

tons of companies...compustar or viper for example. They'll start regardless if you have the vehicle in gear or not...so you kinda have to leave it in neutral. I have one in my integra and it's handy for when you dont want to sit in the car waiting for it to warm up

I'm assuming it's a pro based on the interior.

This is the factory 017 TRD Pro M/T shift knob!

Feels great, it's a good size (bigger than I expexted.) Ergonomically it has a perfect fitment in the hand, I'm impressed.

I should totally get a M/T knob for my A/T. Kids nowadays can't drive stick, maybe if they see the shift pattern, they'll just move along. Also, I think it'd be funny. And its yet one more thing to make my wife roll her eyes at my truck.

Those are exactly the kind of things I like, it makes me laugh. My roommate had a "4x4" badge on his Honda Civic. He got asked where he got one all the time.

When I had my Tundra I put a Hybrid badge from a Prius on it.

I do like the knob though. The red trim on the side would match my trucks color.

Doesn't make sense to me. My '07 335i was 6MT and had a push-button start, so I don't see why a MT would be the limiting factor here.

    Mostly stuff I built.
The knob is ok but I would change it if it were mine. Have been driving with a round shift knob for 30 years hard habit to break.

Makes no sense why Toyota didnt do the push button start on the MT.

Ford offers push button start with their manual trans. BMW has had it for years.

Is the stamped "TRD" emblem on the knob metal or is it painted plastic?
From seeing the first pictures that came out it looked as if its metal.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
Doesn't seem to be working on BMWs. Still tons of them out there with dolts behind the wheel.

BTW S2000's started push button start in 99.

If the truck can start without depressing the clutch (via the cancel button), that's one less problem to solve for a push-button start system.

Still see no reason MT can't have a push button start other than cheapening out on Toyota's part.

Cars have been getting wirelessly broken into since the 90's. Just the other week I read an article about a simple piece of software that can be combined with an Arduino to break into something like 99% of WVs in existence. I've yet to see mass panic.

    Keys suck.

If you want something to keep you up at night, worry about the over-the-air updates your etune system is capable of receiving. If someone wants to mess with your truck, that's how they'll do it, and key or push button, you've got no say in the matter.
