what the funk and wagnalls was that guy doing? accidents suck man I just got into the dash cam game with a Spytec G1W-C some lady hit me a couple of months ago and tried to say it was my fault. I sent my insurance the footage and they immediately called BS on the other party. You're in one piece that's what matters.

Update: Got my truck back. All in all, the repairs look pretty good. The final bill ended up being a little higher than the estimate ($10.1k currently) and one of the decals near the rear wheel fender flare for rock protection is peeling off, so they've got a new one on order for me and will install that once it arrives. Had to take it back once already to fix the fender flare (same side) that wasn't stuck to the body as well as it should have been (really? They use double sided tape for that? Sigh), and have them adjust the tailgate because it was difficult to latch. But they had no issues with that, and anything else I may notice in the future with their repairs is also going to be covered, so that's good. All parts were replaced with new OEM parts, nothing bent back to specs or using cheap aftermarket parts. No new rattles, squeaks, etc. noticed.

Glad to hear your truck is back in order.

I'd sell it after that hit. Same thing happened to my wife when she bought her 2000 Honda Civic. 3 weeks into it she was hit hard and they 'fixed it'. We still own the car but there has always been issue due to the repair.

FWIW a "bad" carfax didn't prevent me from trading in my last vehicle and getting the amount I asked for.

In month 13 of my prior vehicle I had an issue that took over 31 days in the shop to resolve.

They never asked about it at trade in (I was at a different dealer). But I suppose it may hinder a private party sale.

Definitely go after their insurance company for a diminished value claim. Ask for 20% of the value of the truck. If you get it repaired at a non-dealer body shop, you have a good chance it won't hit the car fax report. It probably will because a police report was filed.

I just sold a truck I'd had for years. It'd had two accidents, and both appeared on the carfax report even though I had no repairs done for either. (they were minor/cosmetic) I suspect the data came from either the police reports or the insurance claims.
