Well after some sad realization that truck parts need to wait so I can dedicate money to guns and saving... more the guns I am holding off on my taco for some time. With all these new laws set to pass a lot of my friends have been thinking of getting more guns now rather than later, which is what I plan to do. I am not new to AR15s but am new to building my own. I currently have a S&W M&P15 sport which has been great for learning but not what I want to have down the road. Might even sell it to fund the other two builds.

freaking sucks man, figured if i have 3 lowers, get some 80% lowers and a block then my collection will be well over what I need not including all my other guns. I need to barrow my girls camera so I can get some good pics or this will turn into a cell phone pic build haha

Well My builds have turned out a little different than my OP would foreshadow. For my 14.5 build I just bought a lot of parts thanks to the Labor day sales.

Last week I bought a BCM blew upper for $74

need a forward assist and charging handle and then it will be close to complete.

Looking into this Proctor sling from Way of the gun for only $30 and some kind of cheap Red dot like the bushnell or holosun

 

As for my 16inch build that I thought was gunna end up on the FDE blemished Aero receivers I actually bought a complete 16inch 556 barrel with 15inch Aero keymod rail on a AERO upper in all black with standard A2 bird cage and the aero gas block and tube for $300.
This will go on my rainier arms lower that as of now only has a HEXMAG pistol grip and raddlock mag release but will order a lower parts kit next month.

 

I really wanted a mlok handrail from Aero so looks like later on the 15inch keymod rail will go on the FDE set with an 18 inch barrel from ballistic advantage. Then a 15inch M lok from rail will go onto the complete upper I just bought.

Welcome! I had an Ar15 for a couple of years but sold it to fund these. Cali is hard on these build, for example; When building a 14.5 inch ar15 we have to permanently attach a comp to the barrel via pin and weld that must bring the overall length to 16inches or buy a $200 tax stamp. I went with the J comp for my 14.5 inch build for a few reasons, light, cheap, reduces recoil, comes drilled for a pin/weld, and will bring the barrel to 16inches. I try to post deals I find on here or the AR15 thread. If you need help with laws and all that jazz I recommend joining cal guns which is a forum all about gun laws and such.

Here are some very basic photos, as you can see my FDE build as of right now only has a dust cover and forward assist installed. My complete lower needs to finish the upper but you can see that cool V7 mag catch, and my other black rainier arms lower is pretty much stripped but has a complete upper that just came in the mail last night!

Side note:
Scratched my upper for my main build and now looking into getting it Cerakote sniper grey. Any clues as to how much that costs?

Well DCSBtaco aka mike is coming down and hasnt shot an ar15 since he was in the marines back in the day so Im hoping to have my 14.5 inch upper complete by this friday since my 16inch is already good to go.Just gotta find a friend near by with a torque wrench, vise, and someone to do a little dot of a weld on the comp to bring the 14.5 to 16.

 

Threw in most of the prices I paid minus tax and DROS and all that good stuff for the majority of the parts for anyone curious

Yeah its normally $37 to build it all but figured its only the upper so thats nothing. Might eventually get it painted sniper grey which was $150 quote
