I never started a build thread when I bought my truck new 3 1/2 years ago. I wasn't going to do anything major to it...

Well, it's snowballed and it seems every time I swear I'm done... Well, turns out I'm not. So, here's my build thread.

How do you like the 4.56s with the 255s?

 

Love it. With all the extra weight, it was a must.

 

Added an Iggy panel tonight and some OTRATTW switches.

Before



Painted the panel with spray on bed liner. I like the texture, and I had it sitting on the shelf from when I did my bumpers.



After





The blank will hold the power switch for my winch. That'll be this weekends project. I have 500A solenoid to use as an isolator.

 

Doesn't take long to fill up a six switch panel... Those six will be full once I rewire my winch. On top of those, I also have these



Toggle between the fog light and inverter switches is an ABS kill

The one with the up/down arrows is for the rear slider

The three in the fuse panel are front pods, rear pods, and trans cooler fan.

If someone told me I'd need 11 switches for after market stuff when I bought this truck, I would've laughed at them...

 

I did 4.56's after mounting 255/85/16's as well. Made a big difference. I've got lots of weight on my truck too. LOL

 

Took me a minute before I saw the 1/4" top plate spacers on your mod list. I looked at your truck and realized we both have the same size tire and 886's. I was like, "How does he sit so high?"

For me, the shifting was the worst part. I found myself having to manually shift from 5th to 4th and back to 5th again to get it to shift into OD.

The 4.56's care of that

 

Where you gonna put your dual battery solenoid switch?

 

Me too! LOL Exactly the same on the highway. Once you got to like 65+ the truck would never use 5th/OD properly. It got stuck at high RPMs.

I also find that with 4.56's due to the gear ratio it doesn't hunt between 4th and 5th as much. Though I don't use Cruise Control because it sucks horribly on these trucks.

 

Yes, I noticed that too. I do use cruise a lot though. Keeps my speeds from creeping up on trips. My boots are a tad too heavy...

 

I decided to skip the dual batteries for now. Instead, I'm just upgrading. I have a North Star on the way.

Still redoing all my accessories with a fuse block and rewiring the winch though.

 

So I ditched my air bags a couple of weeks ago. Today I installed an Allpro U-bolt flip and Superbumps front an rear.



First problem. The U-bolts were too long.



Easy fix.



Next issue. I think I need to extend the bump stops?




The bump stop is JUST starting to touch the frame here and the Dakars are going negative.


Hey @OZ-T what are those Wheelers towers that you mentioned earlier in this thread? I don't see them on their site.

I also redid all of my underhood accessory wiring. I added a Blue Sea fuse block and an in cab winch switch. still waiting on the Northstar battery to arrive. But I'll be all ready for it when it does.

I thought that I'd ordered a Blue Sea 100A breaker to put between the fuse block and the battery. It wasn't in the Amazon box. I checked, and sure enough, it wasn't in my order history. It's on the way now.

I did make up this 4G cable just to check if everything still works. Everything does. The breaker should arrive tomorrow. I'll finish this project up if it does.

so for a wiring noob like me, the basic wiring plan is:
light bar wires > blue sea fuse panel > additional relay > firewall/cab > switch ?

Ive been delaying wiring up my light bar because I have no idea. What size wires did you use? Solder and heat shrink? Was getting them into the cab easy?
