Hello all! I'm a commercial pilot based in Vancouver, and also a Tacoma owner since 2008.
Originally I owned a 2006 X-Runner and absolutely loved it; awesome power and great handling - but being a pilot in Canada, it somewhat of a necessity to move to get your hours when starting out. I sold the X-Runner and bought a 2007 SR5 doublecab 4x4 with a tow package and installed an iPod after market wiring harness that connects through the glovebox.
While I've owned my current Tacoma, it's been on ice roads and snow drifts, across half the country (twice) and has towed a 4000 lb trailer without skipping a beat. It starts in -40 degrees Celsius (-40 F) after being left out in the cold without a block heater for three days and its been big enough to go ice fishing with all our gear and three guys (no fish, but lots of fun on the ice!).
I haven't done any mods, the truck is still stock for the most part, but I have seen a lot of upgrades that others have done and I'll post on here as soon as I have!
Aside from what I've seen here, I'm also looking into some upgrades from Arctic Trucks which features some Tacoma mods.
As for the near future, planning to explore some logging roads on Vancouver Island and do some fishing and camping and saving up the cash to fund these upgrades!
Looking forward to seeing what others have done - I've already had a couple of questions answered while browsing the technical threads.
